Congratulations!

I received a class date about 2-3 weeks prior to the class date I was assigned. I would expect that you will see a May class date. You may (no pun intended) be able to get an April class date if you are available and get lucky.

Maybe try to call HR to see if an April class is possible.

Well... I'm not available till mid May... so that should work out pretty well. Thanks for the advice though.

these CRJ courses are tempting, but I just can't see forking over that kind of money just to get a job. Seems like you almost need it right now though if you're at lower times.

I got on with low time without one. But do what you want.

With as close to an industry wide pilot shortage as we've seen in a number of years, there is absolutely no need to pay for a CRJ course. IMHO.

Hey I got a question. How do you put yourself on the non-rev list or CASS for a jumpseat somewhere? Do you just go to the Non-Rev site and put your stuff in? Or is there some other procedure. If you know how to do it could somebody PM me. Thanx I have used the system before(never really had a need to).

I agree. I already had a CL-65 type (PIC, no restrictions) when I was hired with Mesaba. I had been an instructor on the CRJ-200 for about a year and got put on the 900 at XJ. Even though my Mesaba training was essentially more of a "differences training" as opposed to initial (even though it was technically still initial), I didn't see anybody in either ground or sim training that was having any more trouble than I was, despite them not having any CRJ knowledge beforehand. The instructors at Mesaba and Bombardier are very good (can't speak for CAE). A CRJ course or type rating looks nice on the resume, but it's not worth the student loan payments.
