Something that has been on my mind as of late. How do you get paid in training. Is it direct deposit or hard checks? Also, how do you like MEM? I requested that as a domicile on my app.
MEM is fine. Flying is easy, lots of breaks during the day after each return to the hub. Gotta get used to the pace of things, slow, slow, slow. Chief pilot is great. His assistant is WORTHLESS. MEM airport is a dump, but it is what it is. Not a lot of variety for eats, so plan to bring your own food and keep it in the crew room refrigerator. Lots of guys pack for a whole 3 or 4 day trip and just eat in the crew room each meal. Lenny's, Corky's, Interstate, and Arby's get old after a while.

Pay in training is bi-weekly 75 hour guarantee. Each check will be roughly 34.62 hours at $22.81. That gross's out to be $789.58 per check less your taxes and medical and uniform etc. Like was already mentioned you can do either direct deposit or check.

I interviewed in april at a career fair, then it took them a month to fly us down to minne for the sim. After that, it was about 12 days to get the "your hired" call.

RJ,
Are you keeping MEM or are you bidding to move somewhere else?

I don't think I will stay in MEM. I will be back there soon enough with the upgrade.

How is the attrition at Mesaba? How many of the higher numbers are leaving or have left? How does this mass hiring impact equipment upgrades?

I dont mean to hijack this thread or anything but i figure it fits under the general topic of new hires.

Im curious as to why it takes mesaba 5-10 days to call you back about being hired or not. Ive heard several regionals tell you day of interview you are hired or not. What is the reason they take that length of time?
