Well the lady and I will probably end up there looking at that being the Saab Jr. pilot base and all. I was just curious at housing availability, is it crime ridden? That sort of thing.

I too am planning on living in MEM. I've been looking at apartments online, and am wondering which areas to avoid. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have been as well. I flew a Bonanza up there on a trip yesterday to OLV. Nice area. The apartments online dont seem to be too bad, I just hope to be looking in the right areas.

As for the city itself, I think it's an OK place to live. It is definitely a cheap place to live as gas prices here are well below the national average and we dont have a state income tax. You will find most folks to be pretty friendly, once you get to know them a bit. It is *hot* here in the summer and we have pretty mild winters. The one or two snow/ice events that we get each year in January pretty much shut the city down. So, if you are from somewhere that has a real winter, you'll find that amusing.
If you have specific questions about places to rent from or avoid, send me a PM. I'll be happy to help any way that I can.

Hey guys...just got my marching orders this morning for training on July 2. So to anyone else starting then, Ill see you there. Quick question for some of the guys who work for Mesaba...on my itinerary, the names of other people in my class are listed, along with our ID #'s. Does the order of the number in any way indicate seniority in the class?

No, seniority is based off age and you'll figure that out on the first day.

Hey everyone, I interviewed on May 23rd and was told to expect a late July - early August class date, anyone else in the same time frame? Do you think these dates would change very much from now until then??

I called HR today to confirm my class date and they offered me July 30, but I am standing up in a wedding on August 12. They then offered me August 13, but I would have to be in MSP on the 12. So they gave me August 27 and told me it'll most likely be in the Saab. I'm excited, but wishing I didn't have to be in that wedding.
