Mesaba new hires

Actually, the use of the policy is unlimited. There is however a statement that you will meet your Chief Pilot to discuss your use of the policy if you exceed 3 times in 12 months. If you are using the policy correctly, there is no issue with using it more than 3 times a year.

I guess the reality, from my experiences to both DTW and MEM, was that they will do whatever they can to get you where they want you. I know more commuters than not that have called-in-honest more than 3 times a month and not heard a peep from a chief pilot. So yes, these are definitely the rules, but from my experience and others I know they do not want to make life suck for you. List for 2 and if it doesn't look like it'll work they'll get you there. The only time I've ever heard of them PSing someone is when the flight is full. And I've never heard of them not doing it.

I'll concede on the 3 occurrence thing, but my main point was that though they may usually do the positive space (it's one of the options in the FOM), they don't have to. They could also remove you from the pattern w/o pay, for example. Some of the new schedulers may not do things the way you would like, I hope they stick with the status quo, but it's always good to be on your toes.
It's kinda like the hat thing, nobody wears it, but it is required by the FOM. However, if they started coming down on people, what recourse is there? You'd just have to say, "well, it was nice while it lasted."

To all the doom and gloomers. There is to sides to every coin. XJ is typically over staffed in feb-april and on till the summer travel season starts. Also I believe that upgrades didn't work the way they were suppose to and they shoved to many in to the SAAB and did not send enough to the CRJ and the CRJ airplanes are 2-3 months behind the original delivery schedule. The CRJ program is constipated and it appears to be finally starting to clear the backlog ie. the hole is filling in rather than getting deeper. With the saab program going at full spead and the CRJ bottled up overstaffing on the saab and severe understaffing on the CRJ's. This is the reasons I believe is why they offered TOWOP and releasing the SAAB seatlocks to the CRJ. This month all CRJ captains got a line and no reserves at all. 21 available captains and 23 lines no reserves. I don't know about the lines on the 900 but that program is backed up too but not as extreme. They are gettin a bunch of LCA's going and appear to be catching up. All this is based on my observations and anyone can add, tweek or correct me.

To add the SAAB will be properly understaffed and then they will start training for it to late and be further understaffed. Also one other reason for for the release of the seat locks and I have no factual basis for this is insurance requirements. It was starting to go pretty junior on the CRJ's.

I interviewed in the last few weeks. Wondering how they let new hires know if they made it or not. I thought the interview went well. But, I have heard of a few people getting rejection letters. Hopefully someone can get rid of some of these butterflies. Also, do they let you know what aircraft they are hiring you into?
Thanks

My buddy interviewed the second week of Jan and just got a call this week. I am pretty sure the HR dept is backed up. I would think you would have received the no thanks letter by now if they didn't want you. If you made it through the whole process I would think you will get a call by next week. I think the 200 and 900 are available. As you know the 200 is in MSP but the 900 gives you more of an option with domicile. Hope this helps best of luck.
