Ok so for example - I have a report time in DTW today @ 1830. I am listed on 2 flights out of MSP that both get into DTW by 1700. I this situation I would be covered?

If there are a reasonable number of open seats, yes. If not, and you don't make it you're probably SOL.

Also there's something about 24 hours before hand, either you have to be listed by then or there has to be enough open seats at that time. I can't remember exactly, as I don't commute.

Looks great to me, it would definitely be covered under the commuter clause. If you don't make the first one, give scheduling a call and they'll most likely just positive space you. I think I had to call about half of the times I commuted and they were always extremely helpful, as long as you were listed on two different flights which arrived at least an hour before your report time. There is absolutely no reason you'd be "SOL." You're just playing by the rules.

BTW, the commuter policy is on page 4.6.5 of the FOM. Just make sure that if you call, it's at least an hour before the last flight you're listed on leaves. The best place for these kinds of questions is on the ALPA message boards, the union guys can usually tell you the best way to handle this kind of stuff.

Once again the seat locks have been released for Saab Captains.
I am in the Feb. 11 class and was really hoping for DTW. How does it work to try and get that? Do I have to wait until I am line flying? Are there any benefits to MEM such as more flying or better schedules. Thanks guys.

Once you have access to the mymesaba website, you can preference DTW. Once another vacancy comes out you will be awarded that position when there is an opening and your seniority can hold it. As of now, there are no schedules or flying for the 900 in MEM as there aren't any aircraft there yet.

Thank you. I appreciate it. I thought MEM was new for the 900. Will there be any kind of advantage of being one of the first ones assigned there or does it only matter what number you hold in the overall scheme of things for the entire company?

Figured that! Thanks for you help. Hopefully I will see you on the line some day. I would also rather be golfing myself but it is like negative 15 degrees here, oh well.

Okay, maybe "SOL" was a little extreme. But the FOM does say the flights have to be "viable," taking into consideration pax loads, wx, etc. So don't assume they'll just PS you b/c the flight's full. They might, but then again, they might not.

Also, you're limited to 3 uses of the call-in-honest policy in a rolling 12 month period.
