Now I'm just hoping to be done with OE by Jan 01 so I can hold a green line then. It's a vicious cycle........

At least I'm not the only one sitting around doing nothing. Makes me feel a little bit better.

Yeah I know, I did talk to crew planning about my green line and they said I'm set up for Jan. and obviously I can try and bid for one of my choosing when that time comes this month or just be assigned one.........

Good luck Squawk, hopefully you get your sim and IOE wrapped up this month...

IMHO, studying a none XJ Manual could be one of the worst things to do. XJ does many things different than Saab or any other carrier (don't ask why). It's all about the law of primacy...

As stated by someone ealier in the mega-thread, the best thing you can do is show up to your first day of class well rested and ready to learn.

If you have to study something, pick up a FAR/AIM and go to town.

Ditto.

Sounds like you are based in DTW and home is somewhere else (don't know of a lot of beaches in DTW I would like to sit at this time of year). Since you are on probation, if I were you I would be checking CrewWeb on a regular basis. As long as nothing shows up on your schedule, enjoy!

But now I'm on the beach....

Enjoy the beach then! You could pick up open time, but since you will only credit guarantee in Dec, you will kind of be working for free. Might as well stay off the radar and enjoy the time off. Happy Holidays

I don't believe you need your own headset for the -900, it comes with one each for both pilots.

Yeah...that's what they say about the Saab too. I'll think I'll stick to my own

if you pick up on your day off you get paid above 75 even if you never flew anything else while on reserve. December is double pay!

Can you explain that? I'm on reserve this month, and I figured it would be worthless to pick stuff up on my 3 day stretches off because I probably won't break 75 hours anyway with the amount of credit I'm getting during my 5 on stretches.

Are you saying any open time picked up is automatically paid double OVER guarantee?

That would be awesome! I need christmas money!

Also, would schedualing let me pick up a trip that continues into one of my reserve days? Would I get double pay for the flying on the reserve day? Can I request only part of an open time trip (break them into smaller pieces)?

As you can see I havn't figured out this whole open time thing...reading the contract wasn't that helpful either.

Im going to bring my own because I hate sharing more germs than I have to. But I would imagine any headset that you use while flying GA would work fine in a jet. The 900 should be pretty quiet up front.

True, but does this apply to someone that is not holding a reserve line, and instead just had reserve days added after IOE?

....looks like I answered my own question as Section 4 of our contract addresses pilots in "training" as well.

So long as you don't go below 10 days off, you will double credit for trips you pick up in December.
