How many people are on property now? What is the per plane staffing model? I thought someone said they have maybe 890ish people on property...and if they staff at 6.5 crews per plane (13 pilots)... They will have 102 planes on property with projected growth, that is a list of 1326 pilots.
A street CA could be on reserve for a long time in the saab it seems like, as the low time FO's will upgrade in front of you.

Thanks for helping me get that all sorted out. Another question for all you that have gone through the training. What is your recommendation on going home to visit during training on the weekend? I am thinking that if by some small chance that they take thanksgiving off that I will buy a ticket home to visit my wife and family. This way I will have a seat for sure. Of course this is all considering they do take off the holiday, and there is not any weather that might prevent me getting back in time.
Jandem,
We've only finished our second day of indoc, but I can tell you that on the first day they strongly suggested that you not leave during indoc. They can't prevent you from doing so, but if you miss class...there are consequences. You'd be better off having your wife come to you if being with her on T-day is that necessary. From everything I've heard (so far), traveling as a non-rev passenger has drawbacks from time to time. You shouldn't plan anything "for sure" around such travel. STBY = "Sucks to Be You". And (as you already know), buying a ticket doesn't necessarily guarantee your return in time either.
Heck...my wife and I are going to miss our first wedding anniversary. It was an emotional parting, but she knew what she was getting into. We've been together for 18 years and married for the last one. It doesn't make it any easier. Sacrifice is just part of the job.
And just in general, everything I've seen so far is very encouraging. The people here are great.

The thread will continue for a long time. Mesaba pilots and new hires will post as long as the significant number of "viewers" continues.
IMHO Mesaba is a "trend setter."

Me and 6 others in a class of ~20 were assigned the CRJ200. The others are all SAAB.
We're all very grateful to be here. Such diversity in backgrounds. I just came back from a study group and all 7 of us showed up to participate. It's really refreshing to work with such a great group of fellas who are very non-competitive and all want to see each other succeed. We struggled through a NAV1/NAV2/3585 exemption handout tonight and I was amazed at how patient everyone was with each other. That kind of patience is in all of the instructors too. We were stuck, so one guy called one of the instructors at 9pm and he told us how glad he was that we called. Wow.
The other thing that is really freaking me out is how many dudes I used to fly with @ Mankato, MN are already here. It's like I'm back in school or something...total flashbacks, but very cool.
I honestly don't know if my wife and I will go through the trouble of getting her up here on T-day. For one thing, we as a class would have to vote on it...and our check out day (for the Oct 22nd class) is Nov. 25. I foresee us sitting back at home for 1-2 weeks waiting for our SIM assignments to come up...and another 1-3 weeks after that before IOE. The CRJ200 sim is here, but they told us it won't be configured until mid-November. Which means we'll probably have to do SIM in Montreal or Denver. I'm not sure which is which...some guys tell me one or the other.
Truth is.....there is so much training going on in HQ right now, EDIT you'll find it difficult finding someone who is unwilling to help you out. /EDIT You couldn't pick a better time to come to Mesaba.
