I guess the point to my post was that pay would increase faster if the high time pilots went back to the fbos. As long as there's someone with enough time to serve as CA, the planes will keep flying, even if the airlines have to get the FAA to allow them to use monkeys as FOs.

LTP = low time pilot

How about what I posted in my last post...did you not read it all? Go to an FBO and offer up your advice. Mentor someone that wants to become an airline pilot. That's just one suggestion

Skybus...yeah, that's one to aspire to

The first airline that comes to mind when you mention $19/hr for aircraft that aren't really "regional" aircraft is....yours!

Can't do that cause my FBO closed down and the Blue line doesn't take me to any FBO's at Ohare. Unfortunately my regional is rapidly expanding and is going to use all 1000 hours of me, but at least I'm going to make over 30 K @ $19 an hour because we have decent work rules. Next year 50K.... and I still want more. That is a good idea though. I try to mentor on here instead .

Your post is EXACTLY why low time guys and gals are leaving the flight instructor ranks to become airline pilots. $30k year one then $50k next year. How many instructors make $30k/year? You believe so strongly in the low time guys being the ones to blame and yet you cannot go to another airport in the ORD area (since yours closed) to mentor or spread the good word...

Yeah, not happy about it. Fortunately when people think of good regionals, Skywest is usually one of them. We get mostly 121 FO's leaving to come and start over with us with no second thoughts. That says something. Skywest is not great, they are fair. I do not want more expansion at Skywest or at the regional level. In my opinion the ones that hire low time pilots are not good for the industry. Please answer my original question instead of arguing. I want to read your opinion as to why they are a good thing and how you are going to make more money and better QOL in the long run. Look at the first few replies. A UPS and Fedex captains with much more experience than you or I saying that this is not a good thing. We want to hear why you think it it.

You made my point, at Mesa and TSA you are not going to do that. The reason why I can at Skywest is because of work rules. At these places take your block per hour x 1000 and that is your pay.... WORK RULES are nice. If I fly a leg at Skywest i get 3:45 for that day. If I fly that same 1 hour leg at Mesa I will get 1 hour of pay. It adds up. If MESA, TSA and PINNACLE didn't exist I would be getting more money. Good regionals would be expanding, new hires would be getting more money. This may come if standards are not lowered to allow more students to flood the market of pilots. Go to jet university dot com. it says you "Employment as a First Officer flying a Canadair Regional Jet, as a paid employee. " This is our future and you want it this way. ..... How is this helping I ask once again?

In every industry there is going to be a Mesa, GoJet, etc... Look at SkyBus...they are a GoJet flying a big shiny Air Bus. This is like the don't buy gas on this day thing. Great idea sure, but not gonna work. Low time guys CANNOT be blamed for this though. They are moving up the ladder. SkyWest lists their mins at 700/100. Comair 600/100. Really, how much difference is there in a 300 hour pilot and a 700 pilot that can pass an airline training program?

Enough of a difference that Skywest and Republic won't hire you I guess. Allright... so in a few years, 250 hours may be a lot of time, you might have been considered high time. They might have direct hires form Emery Riddle into 737's. You still think that is a good idea and great for this industry? Here you are a regional captain and now some kid fresh out of college is flying something that you wanted to for a lot less money than you think it's worth. What are you going to say now? You might now agree with me but I hope you can see part of my point.
