Question ASA Hiring

Hey All,

I am new to the forum. I was just wondering if someone could help me out with a question I have about ASA. I was wondering if they actually do hire people that are just at Minimums (600 TT 100 ME) or if they don't even look at lower time applicants. Their website says, in fact, 600 and 100 is all they require...but do they actually stick to that? I saw on Willflyforfood that there was a guy with about 650 and 100, and he got hired...but then you have people with double or triple the amount of that time getting hired. I graduate in the Spring of 06 and I would really like to apply with them. It would be my 'dream' to work for ASA. If anyone has any pointers or anything at all to help me out, I would greatly be appreciated. I am a young'n in aviation and I would appreciate as much stearing as I can get! Thanks to everyone who responds.

Yes, they are hiring. For sure classes in November, and probably December. No one is sure about what will happen after that, but the big thought out there is that hiring will be going on through next year. As for the min time, the worst you could do is apply.

Good Luck

Default ASA Hiring

From what I learned while I was an intern at asa, they will hire at the 600 total if they think you will be able to get through ground school. Examples of this would be if you completed CRJ training from schools such as UND or ERAU. For those that were interns at asa, the minimums drop down to 350 tt and 50 mulit.

I have an interview with ASA on the 11th of October and from the gouges I saw they were hiring guys with 675-850 Total time. I would apply and see what happens. They are looking for pilots who will stay around for awhile I guess the pay isn't that bad starting second year. I think like 34 or 37/hr.

By the way, apply soon. With the way things are going - ie several regionals cancelling classes and hiring pools, ASA might decide to raise the mins. If I was looking to go anywhere - it would be with them or SkyWest. Both are anticipating a lot of growth with Delta pulling back mainline domestic flying. Or so the story goes...

I work for ASA and am in my 3rd year now. Here's the scoop.....People are leaving left and right and going other places, where, i'm not sure!?!!? Mostly CA's. They are so short on pilots, we all fear getting back into base because we know there is a good chance we will be extended. Lots of CA's are having to fly in the right seat as well. Last month alone, I had 4 day-lines and a couple of roundtrips taken by training, so they are definately doing some hiring, on all three aircraft type. The reason they dropped it to 600/100 is because they weren't getting enough applicants. People out there with any significant amount of time or 121 experience was scared to come here with the contract negotiations still pending, being sold to Skywest, Delta going bankrupt, etc etc. But, it is looking like there is alot of growth on the horizon. New cities and routes almsot mnthly announced. First year pay is $19/hr on any aircraft with a 75 hour guarentee. 2nd year on the 50 seater and ATR is $33.82 and $37.53 on the 70. Each payscale goes up 3%, I believe, each time your anniversary date rolls around. Don't expect to upgrade anytime soon either. Great place to work, as far as all the people you'd fly the line with. Only have to wonder what's going on over at HQ on any given day, as is with any airline i'm sure. Most everyone is going to be in ATL, although there are a few newbies out in SLC. You are also paid monthly guraentee plus per diem and hotel is paid for as well during training, which last 2 - 2 1/2 months. Hope this helps.

Right now I am commuting from ATL to LGA for my current job and I just want to be at ASA ASAP so I can quit this communting crap. Any info at all would be great!
