Many professionals also get to see their kids at night. Help their wife make dinner. Help with school stuff. Go to their kids games on Saturdays. Wake up and help get the kids to school... It’s hard to put a price on that. Time is the one thing you never get back. And it’s hard to make up for time missed.

It is what it is and everyone values things differently. But I learned a long time ago that for most people to be happy in this life there are balances that need to be struck. What use is money if you aren’t able to use it because you work too much? What use is providing for your family if you miss your baby growing up?

I used to think the same thing.... before I got to the Airlines. I used to hear people complain about just 12 days off and thought those pilots sounded like spoiled little brats. If you’re single then go for it, but when you leave and you don’t come back until 4 or 5 days later you can’t really have much of a family life with only 10-12 days off.

I certainly don’t fault anyone who wants to hustle that much. 135k isn’t even possible at PSA unless you’re a check airmen and even that would be tough. I hustled in November and December because we had holiday pay, but there’s no way I could do that for even half the year.

I'll play:

I'm a lazy SKW FO, 3rd year pay and line holder all year. 59K end of year gross. averaged 15-16 days off a month. blocked 550 hours. never picked up open time.

It would be great to have this thread stay on point and avoid the back and forth arguing of personal opinions.

I extend my thanks to those who have provided their pay information to help inform the group.

^^^ THIS

Also, I love seeing how many actual hours are flown, not just block hours (I know that's not on point with compensation - the point of this thread - but for those of us evaluating regionals it's very helpful).

Mesa FO less than 2 years there. Left in November for ACMI carrier after grossing $56K ytd and flew just over 800 hours incl per diem with some attendance bonus and 300%. $56K then was reduced as had to pay back some of my new hire bonus from 2017 as less than 2 years from IOE. In 2019 I’ll make in the 90’s at an ACMI carrier including per diem as a 1st year FO.

Entitled ? No, you are a professional and have worked your way there. Entitled is "I have 500 hours, where's my job?", or "Why should I have to think of my passengers? Screw 'em (seat belt sign NEVER comes off)".
