Saab is partly right here.
I'm 24, a Captain on the Saab and have only had one bad day here at Colgan. Everything else has been good. Never had my schedule changed, upgraded on time, and am holding a good CA line with average 96 hours/mo.
I hope to be somewhere bigger and better in 2-3 years, just about the time Saab is upgrading.
Saab had a real bad time here and they might have just had it out for him from day one, because he certainly does act like he's hot **** flying around a computer. Maybe scheduling didn't like that. All regionals are the same, bad pay, etc.
Do what's best for you and your family. There are pros and cons here, etc.

There are pros and cons everywhere but *arc just gave you the best advise you'll find here. DO what's right for you. You're going to have to build time somewhere, might as well pick a place that will keep you close to home for awhile.

The "computer" doesnt do so well, when its gusting to 35 pal, wish it did, but it does'nt, and its a swept wing, which requires a little more effort than the straight wing SAAB, sorry pal, I agree that 43 an hr as a SAAB CA is low, but flying the SAAB isnt that difficult
I know COLGAN can't afford these things you call "Computers", its called an FMS................

Start applying with the best (UPS, SWA, FDX, etc) and work your way down to your least desireable. You will be surprised who calls you first. And take it. The best position to be in while looking for a job is having one.

I've read quite a few threads on Colgan and I'd have to say I'm still not sure if it's the worst regional in the world or if it's just like all the others, except with lower pay. Maybe you got more out of this than I did, Shamrock.
It seems that the only person I've seen jump on Colgan is Saab ... nothing personal Saab. I get it. You hate Colgan and I'm sure your reasons are legit for your situation. I don't think I've seen any of their current pilots have many bad things to say though.
So, if not Colgan, then what would be the best regional, fractional or other paying turbine/jet job that would take a 500 hour pilot?
Any recommendations Saab? :-)
