CJO Republic and Skywest ERJ
So which one and why?
Want LGA base. Seems feasible at both. Which one will fly me more hours first year? Training seems better and faster at Skywest. 2 months done. Republic has 2.5 month delay and looks like 3-4 months for training..
I know republic has slightly better contract and no ready reserve. I dont want to sit reserve for 6 months and only fly 10 hours a month which seems possibility with Skywest and the ERJ. Culture seems better at Skywest. Very confusing decision.
Thanks for advice.

If you have to be LGA, I would go w YX. In the scheme of things the training delay probably isn’t going to affect you as far as upgrade timing or moving on to mainline (compared to ERJ with OO). Seniority starts with YX at indoc. Now if you were flexible w base and did CRJ with OO, there is minimal reserve, you fly a ton, upgrade when you have the time. Sacrifice some QOL but you get time quicker. So IMO it depends on what is important to you. I think you’ll have better QOL with YX, but probably you would be happy pilot at both companies. If you went CRJ at OO and upgrade quickly, the lack of a signing bonus is somewhat balanced with faster CA pay. Tough decision, I’ve been sitting in the exact same boat, except I want ORD. Good luck, at end of the day it is nice to have options...

You’ll get to LGA and accrue seniority there much more quickly at Republic, as it’s a far larger base, and the most junior base in our system.
You’d also have real work rules and a real union, instead of a student body council paid by management and book of policy that can be changed as management sees fit.
No brainer really.

I think the culture at both places is great. I interviewed at both and, like you, got CJOs at both, ultimately deciding on Republic.
I'd echo what others are saying; if you want LGA, YX is a no-brainer. You likely will hold a line by the time you get done with IOE. Even if you are on reserve, you'll fly 40-50 hours a month at a large domicile like LGA.

Initially assignments lately have been mixed between IND, CMH, PIT, LGA, and EWR. If you get Flica access before the 5th of the month, you can participate in the vacancy bid if you don’t like what you get. As Longhorn said, LGA is definitely obtainable while in training, but it’s effective 4 months from the date the bid closes. So November vacancy that just closed is for March. Crew Planning comes in during Indoc and gives you a 2-3 hour crash course on the majority

I'm in the same boat as you; total novice to it all. They do a good job of giving you a crash course, and everyone at the airline is really approachable, so don't be afraid to ask lots of questions.
