TSA Mins
#13
PERFECT!!! Their mins have hit rock bottom. Now what??? If they continue to have a pilot shortage, they have no choice but to raise pay (or give up some flying). We are already seeing new hires bonuses at Mesa/Republic. Next step may be an increase in pay to attract new pilots.

Wow, there it is, can’t get any lower. Now who is going to instruct the 250 hrs required for a commercial. Flight schools are going to have to pay a lot more to keep cfi's around. This will increase the cost for training which will be passed along to the student. The extremely high cost to rent an instructor coupled with rising fuel costs will further hinder anyone in there right mind from coming into aviation. Looks like the market will finally start to slow the supply and force the airlines to pay more.
This will be interesting.

whats the washout rate...
I really wonder about that washout rate. As a rule, corporations are all about promoting themselves usually at the expense of the individual. They are about income improvements for upper management and stock holders. If TSA will take wet commercials I suspect they are playing fast and loose with those few hapless wannabes who are foolish enough to wander into the training program with 25 multi hours thinking cool, I will get to fly airplanes. Their 25 hours was all vfr going for hamburgers with a safety pilot on Sunday. If 25 hour pilots do not have enough skills to pass in high percents this makes me think they are widening the net to cull out a few 250-hour wonders and sending the rest of them away damaged. It's like a corporation to do this. And how would applicants know what it takes to pass training? If you leave your job and end up as a TSA washout you not only lose your old job, you can't get another one in the aviation industry.
