Default Uniform Shirts

Where does everybody get their shirts? Are there any actual stores you can go to and try them on etc?

Thanks

There are various places, Here in CLT we have the HQ for Landerwood. Their shirts are made in the USA and are Long for taller people, They also have the Tapered, Button Collars or not, Long sleeve or shory, Etc. and I believe they are the official shirt of "Fed Ex". The guys there are super nice and I have known guys who have ordered one shirt, for fit and have exchanged it. They also have incentive for referrals and after you buy either 10 or 12, the next one's free.

and as my Grandfather said "YES, THEY COST MORE BUT QUALITY AIN'T CHEAP"

Check also Pilot house, Stopover store, etc. Aerosupply in Daytona may have them but my last experience there wasn't that great. There are a few in Major Airline Hub City's but if they are on the "Secure" side of Security, don't know how you could get to them to try them on.

Good Luck,

The sizes are pretty standard, so you could use your normal shirt size to order online. I would probably add 1/2" to the neck size, they tend to shrink over time. If you don't know your size, any department store can measure you. For SS shirts you just go with S/M/L/XL and neck size. For LS, you need sleeve length and neck size.

Try marvgolden.com. Bought my van heusen aviator shirts there, because thats where I found the lowest prices. These shirts looks really sharp, and are well made, as the brand suggests.

Not trying to sound "uppity," but they are good shirts, good looking for only a few bucks more. Check out pilotshirts.com as well. Van heusen prices were a little higher there, though.

I have a Van Heusen dress shirt that I think is great. Very durable and good looking shirts.

I'll have to keep that in mind when buying an aviator shirt.

I have found that there are a few items on which you will loose money trying to save money.
1. Shirts. The cheap ones don't last as long.
2. Shoes. I don't get expensive shoes, but good, rugged, comfortable shoes. I replaced the cheap ones every 6 months, my feet got wet in the rain, and they hurt after 12 hours of wear. The good ones cost twice as much, but lasted over a year, kept my feet dry, and felt good.
3. Pubs bag. Nothing like chasing revisions across a ramp after the bottom falls out of a cheap one. Never again.

I went with the Van Heusen Commander shirts at www.pilotshop.com

They are a bit thicker material and were $3 cheaper than anywhere else I saw. Free Shipping also.

Thanks for the info guys.

Can anyone point me toward an all-cotton pilot shirt? I try hard not to wear synthetic fabrics if I can avoid them.
