About a week after the shutdown, it was requested that we return our iPads and company badge. Yeah, to who?!? They'll have to send men in suits to my house before that happens!

I'm not really gonna say what to do with the iPad, but you probably want to return the badge (even if it's sent via registered mail to the trustee) since that does represent a certain level of airport access you don't want to "have" if you're not currently working.

I believe you are referring to the Honolulu Airport AOA badge, which yes, does give us access to certain areas that we are no longer permitted. That is returned. But the Island Air company badge? It will not give us 'access' to anything. There is no RFID chip in it for door swiping. It's simply identification.

Just the ID alone is enough to clear security... you don't need an AOA badge.
