Well, that’s a good question. Each airline has a set of work rules or a Union contract that dictate how many bid periods there are. Generally there are 12-13 bids per year at some cargo operators there may be a 2 month bit limiting the bids to 6 per year. The month is broken down into lines of flying. Check this out for a better example ( I’m a slow typer)

It will explain better what a Line really is. Just realize that the quality of lines may differ greatly at different airlines. This means some trips will pay less while staying away from home for the same period of time. Hope this helps a little.

I believe that MESA has 13 28 day bid periods.
