Odds are if you look really hard in certain old-school airlines you could find a bit of racism. But that's probably true of anything in certain parts of the country.
But airline pilots in general are going to be more tolerant than society in general, due to the fact that they're educated and have typically traveled for both work and pleasure.
Don't go looking for trouble where there doesn't need to be any.

All of these examples have happened at both the regional, legacy and things I've heard as a jumpseater. To say that these things aren't offensive to minorities or not prevalent is simply not true.

I've flown with more than an insignificant amount of people who use Ferguson as an "example of why blacks shouldn't be allowed in the rest of society." Others have said they wouldn't get caught dead in Dearborn with all those sand-n's trying to blow them up. And even some who refuse to go to Mexico because the locals are drug-running murders who are going to try and kidnap them.

But myself and many other old school surfers don't go down to baja anymore...the violence is real, and kidnapping is in fact a sideline for the narcos. That's not racism, just common sense despite what political correctness might dictate. It may be starting to get better, but I'm going to give it some time. Mexico city is OK though if you avoid the bad parts.

You must fly for a different airline than I do.

I'm sure this is the same game most FOs have played for years when they sense their politics differ from their crew partner. If you don't talk about minorities derogatorily, you more than likely have given that away somehow and the FO you're flying with has just toed the line.
It also helps where you live. These attitudes prevail mostly from people east of the Rockies and from those living in the South or small towns.

The Charlottesville, a city I visit often and going to again this morning, statue of Robert E. Lee stood 93 years. Other CSA monuments, much longer. Grew up under stars & bars, sympathetic to the emotions of those not wanting to re-write or erase our past. What follows is only one person's worthless opinion. These symbols on public land perpetuate hateful stereotype's that only hold us back and harm our children. Far past time to move them elsewhere. A people, professing to respect our constitution, should be strong enough to accept that.
"A people, professing to respect our constitution, should be strong enough to accept that"
Tell that to the "anti-protestors" who were basically holding signs of BLM, F-words, and other hatred signs and instigated the white power group. Lets face it, despite what CNN and MSNBC are showing on TV, this wasn't a one-sided attack where the whites were in the wrong and everyone else was innocent..........
I don't like their message - but it's their right, protected speech, and right to assembly. So as long as they do it peacefully without harming persons or property, they can say what they want. The liberal message is you only have free speech and a right to protest and assemble IF you tow along their line - their beliefs. If not, you don't have a right to have that opinion. That's the new left.
And I'm saying this as a non-white person, someone who immigrated here in the early 90s.

General Lee is a part of history, whether one likes it or not. Only SJWs and left wingers are offended enough to demand that statue be removed.

Holding a BLM sign or F words isn't instigation. That's also free speech. If anything is instigation, it's driving hundreds of miles to a town that if 80% liberal and holding a hate rally with Nazi signs and torches. Might as well bring the pitch fork. Even Foxnews was condeming the white supremacist protestors in VA. That's saying something
