I'd think the only way you could walk in as a captain, even at a start-up, would be if you had turbine captain experience, and more likely 121 at that. Sitting as a lear FO for 6 years isn't going to do it. In fact, it's probably going to work against you - hiring in as a captain, that is.
You can't expect to skip a rung on the ladder just because you chose to sit where you're at for as long as you did.

Maybe if you were a check airman. I think most of these startups look for that first.

Not trying to pass anyone, life just isn't that simple, turning 40, spent 10 years on active duty in the navy, MBA in finance.....anyone...anyone!!! Wondering whether to continue to put my wife of 16 years and kids through this little chase to a captain seat so I can eventually qualify for a 121 F/O seat and make 19,000 a year. OBTW, standing job offer at Pinnacle and numerous Captain offers I had to decline due family. So get off my back, not everyone's in their twenties still getting an allowance from mom and dad. Give me a call when you get 63 missions over Iraq and Bosnia. Once again, absolutely no offense to regional folks out there. I've just heard of a few companies out there that are offering Captain seats (121) out of training if you do well. That was the original question.

If you go into an interview with this attitude of entitlement, you're not going to get anywhere. Don't know what else to tell you, other than you appear to be changing your career plans late in life and expect the industry to conform to your wishes. Good luck with that.
Why would you not try UPS, FDX, or the majors, what with the military experience and all?
