nah...
dont take my attitude the wrong way...
just getting tired of being flamed by the older groups, and everybody
is flaming someone on here..so yeah...

BUT....I know I don't know everything, and most likely never will.... I never said that I did...
but whats the point with this taking shots at the younger generation...

yes we're young and naive...
but if the hrs say 600/50
and we're close to that, heck some of us "young and naive" ones have
twice that AND a college degree....
why does that make it wrong for us to fly for them?

Is it because all the captains there and pilots at the majors had a min.
of 2000hrs when they got hired by that company??
Or were they busting their @$$ off trying to stay alive with every new student for 5 years??

Well first off you never stated that you had a college degree, and in reality that means nothing anymore. Second of all, Mesaba is not a low time carrier, and probably shouldnt be. It is one of the few places in this industy that takes pride in having high time captains and FO's. Comair may be more to your liking as most of their pilots are bridge types. There may be some that are at major mins, but that is because they choose to be at a career regional. The grass isnt always greener somewhere else... The only guaranteed good grass is the stuff you cant touch as an airline pilot.

As for applying/seeing job postings on the website, I found that the site doesn't work properly with Firefox (or doesn't for me), so I had to open it in IE... so you may try that.

Questions:
Is there any kind of base lock, or would a person be able to bid on an open slot when it becomes available? (say you get a MEM 340 slot in class, could you theoretically bid for a DTW 340 position the next month?)

"will have met established criteria that credit their experience to the equivalent of the previous minimums"

Any idea what they mean by that? Are the new mins only going to be for people who paid a few grand to sit in a CRJ FTD a few times (like some companies), or are they looking for people who straight up know their stuff?

It would be nice to get back to Detroit some day, but the only other choice is 9E... and I really don't see myself going there.

Thanks for all of your info on this forum RJ85FO, even if it is just to get more numbers below you.

IF you get the Saab yes, if you get the jet no. It will be this fall before the jet crews are in MEM I suspect. Seniority is everything here, so get hired, and you can always change bases when it becomes available.

On the jet, reserve will be short. On the Saab it will be longer. Can't say how long yet until we know how many furloughs return in the next couple of weeks.

Min days off are 11, you could expect to see 11-15 days off on the lines now.

There is no base lock, you are free to move around as often as you choose to. Some people do, just to get to see some new territory once in a while!

I don't know exactly what they have in mind. It sounds to me like they may be working a deal with some schools, but that is only speculation. I will put a call in to the CP to get clarification on that point.

DTW is within reach on either airplane. If you get the jet early, it will be 3-4 months before crews are placed in DTW. We have an electronic preference bid system, so you will just put DTW CR FO above your current position, and when a vacancy comes out, you will automatically be awarded that position if your seniority will hold it.

Takes pride in having high time captains I can understand....but F/O??
I'm not saying they should have ridiculously low times, but why would a 600hour pilot be a sh*ttier pilot than a 1000hour pilot?
Will someone with 600TT/500ME be a better pilot than
someone with 1000TT/15ME ??
Ofcourse not, the only that MAY be better, but doesn't have to, would be ADM. But.....that's why you have to "high time" captain next to you for.....
And even HE is still prone to poor decision making...

FOR: shanejj, and sigep_nm and others as appropriate.

Gents. You have a good discussion going on "flight time minimums" here and on other threads. As a service to those interested in the possibility of Mesaba employment, could you continue your discussion on another more appropriate thread.

Thanks
