Ever hear of random security screening? No evidence needed. Hence the word random.
Two reasons -
A flight crew member should not be getting a pat down without some serious evidence that they may have a prohibited device on their body. I would question the supervisor as to exactly what led to the pat down and take names and badge numbers (calmly of course) and report it to the union security committee.
Our pax should not witness any flight crew member getting felt up. It is a debasing and potentially embarrassing situation.
I understand the TSA has a job to do. Some take it a little too far. A trip through TPA security tests my patience every time. Why that particular station is so bad, I don't know. There are others like it.

You can be kicked out of KCM by your airline or by the Feds. It's happened to many pilots.
Please, for the love of everything holy, if you are selected for a pat down, demand a supervisor and a private room. TSA is out of control at certain airports and everyone knows it.

The image of a pilot being patted down and searched by Tsa isn't a good one.

Complete bunk. Been there, done that on a random. It's no big deal. Just part of the system.

I had to go through the metal detector FOUR TIMES in Gulfport this week. True story!
The first time, my shoes alarmed.
The second time, my shoes didn't alarm but the smurf didn't like the way that I walked through the magnetometer so she made me do it a third time.
The third time, my shoes again did not alarm but smurfette got her panties in a twist when I asked her why she had such an attitude. So she got her supervisor to make me walk through the metal detector a fourth time.
Again, on the fourth walk-through, I passed.
To say that these people are like mall cops is unfairly derogatory to mall cops.
