Default Interview date?

Hi,

I wanted to apply to PSA, looks like a great place to work.

Question is: Should I apply now, when the earliest I could interview is March 2018? Or is this too early to apply? - I read some people are offered interviews within a few weeks of applying.

I have other commitments right now and could not interview any earlier.

When are you looking to start class? You must interview within 6 months of starting class.

Typically, you should interview 6-8 weeks before you would like to start class. Although we are often successful in getting people in class much sooner than that if they want to start ASAP, 6-8 weeks is usually a good time.

Thank you for your reply and information. If I was to become successful and pass the interview process, a start date of around May 2018 would be ideal. So given what you said, an interview in early March 2018 would work for PSA.

If I apply in December 2017 (assuming my application is successful) am I able to request an interview in March?

I would recommend applying in December or January and asking for a later interview date. Then, be in touch in February and schedule an early March interview date.

Appreciate the advice, I will get my application done this month.

Super excited!

On another note:

What are the chances of a pilot base at DCA. Is it a much sought after base? or are there possibilities of getting based there from day 1 as a new FO?

Cheers..

Excellent chance of getting it awarded by the end of training. I think everyone in my class this summer that wanted DCA got it. If you can't get it by the end of training, probably within 1-2 months of completion of IOE.

That's awesome. Thanks for the feedback!

These are just rough estimates. We round up our precision and nonprecision approaches differently, which changes the HAT. This will be taught in ground school. I don't expect you to know exactly how PSA does it for the interviews.

More importantly, know what it means and why you use it. I honestly don't care if you know the math perfectly, but if you can tell me why you would use it and what it tells you, that is the important thing.

I also don't expect you to know anything company or ops spec specific. Just generic and FAR's. (For instance, different companies have different rules for takeoff alternates. I know exactly how several airlines teach it, but we just test based on the FAR. (hint: 121.617).
Can you speak to how the tech/HR interview goes for the RTP? Is it basically the same?

And the likelihood of CLT?

Many from my class spent 2-3 months at other bases before holding reserve at CLT. This will depend somewhat on your age. In my class the most junior person got a CLT award within 2 months of finishing sims, but with an effective date about 5 months after finishing sims.

At 36 I was just about the middle of my class in seniority.
