Thanks all, I appreciate the insight.

(Forgot to mention the DCA thing; I was flying VPS - DCA two weeks ago and they begin daily direct service this year, but not until May.)

Still doesn’t sound anywhere near as optimal as CLT.

Thanks again!

Default DEN commuting

I am currently flying in DEN. Looking at moving to regionals in a few months. With the only options in DEN being TSA, GoJet, and skywest I have pretty much accepted I will commute. Any of those airlines don’t seem that great. I was wondering if anyone at PSA has experience commuting from DEN or from the west coast. Not opposed to moving but personal circumstances prevent me from moving in the next 10-12 years. Does not look like a lot of AA flight out of Denver to PSA bases. Looks like only reasonable option is CLT is it still about a couple month to hold and 9 for a line? Thanks.

I was speaking of the fact that is located in the southeast and serves the north/south traffics flow for connections on the east coast and provides a hub for connections to a lot of smaller east coast cities.

While we do have commuters from the Mountain West, and even the west coast, if you feel you'll be competitive for a better career position down the road, and can get DEN or COS with SkyWest, I'd do that. Driving to work is amazeballs.

Yeah I have been told that driving to work changes a lot of things. I have friends that work at skywest and they have recommended not coming right now. Not the QOL it used to be, flew 200 hours in 6 months on reserve and still on reserve. If upgrade right at 1000 hours I will be commuting anyways to dtw, lga, atl. If I am going to have to commute anyways may as well do it at a place where if will fly more and has a commuter clause.

I would stay away from Skywest, no union and no real work rules. They have a handshake agreement of working terms and no grievance system to prevent working term violations. Their flight benefits are crap compared to PSA. If you hold a line a PSA, you are almost guaranteed to get the exact specific days off you want. No other regional can say the same.

In my opinion a longer commute and some months of reserve is a drop in the bucket compared to the superior flight benefits for commuting/travel and the industry best schedule flexibility once you hold a line. All the DEN commuters I've met at PSA claim their commute is easy.
