The oral and checkride are virtually the same. During the sim portion, there are a few minor differences if you are typed and have 100 hours in the airplane. Whether you're getting the ATP/Type or already have it doesn't change who gives the oral/checkride....they are done by company APD's.

If you already typed, you still go through the whole initial training footprint.

Edit: when they say "FAA Type oral/sim" it just means you are getting a new certificate or rating...these are done by company APD's.

No difference for prior types for training. You'll take the checkride with your sim partner.

Default Regarding seat specifics during the checkride

I can't speak for all APD's, but I brief the FO's on what is required prior to the sim. Generally, the examiner is only there as a role player for the flight routine (dispatch, maintenance, ATC, flight attendants, etc.). They can't be there as an "instructor". However, I tell them I can help if needed on CA specific items (such as CA flows).

There is a little bit of evaluation when they're in the left seat because they are required to perform pilot monitoring duties, which are the same regardless of the seat (after takeoff flow, approach setup, etc.). If they're in the left seat and are totally screwing up as pilot monitoring (not the CA specific items), then the examiner could unsat the SOP's as pilot monitoring.

This doesn't happen often, but it does happen every once in a while.

Other differences are that you should have a leg up on everyone and an extra $5000 sign on bonus!

Do all bases have all 3 variants of the CRJ? If not, can someone please provide a break down?
Is it possible for someone to only fly a certain variant depending on their base?

Thanks!

Per Wikipedia
CLT: CRJ200, CRJ700, CRJ900
CVG: CRJ700, CRJ900
DAY: CRJ200, CRJ700, CRJ900
TYS: CRJ200, CRJ700, CRJ900
DCA: CRJ200, CRJ700, CRJ900

Hopefully this is accurate, if not I hope someone posts the correct list.

Not at SkyWest.
But you did say "regional" so touché.

Generally speaking, TYS and DAY will see the most 200 flying, CVG and DCA will see very little, with CLT somewhere in the middle, but leaning towards very little.

That said, there's no way to avoid the 200 entirely, in any domicile, particularly on reserve.

It is possible to fly all 3 variants in a single day, but not likely. Occasionally it occurs.

I rarely fly the 200 in CLT, but occasionally it does happen.
