In the short time period available for Sims, it's negative learning. They should only be evaluated from the seat they are getting qualified in. It's unprofessional to have an unqualified seat fill in an event that could have negative ramifications for your career. It's embarrassing to fail a new hire FO because his CA flows, something not even in his job description or responsibilities, were unsat. I've been at two airlines now (one major, one regional) and both training programs had enough professional courtesy to put a qualified captain as a seat fill.

No one is failing because they don't know CA flows as an FO. It doesn't happen.
Go troll your "major".

The APDs are smart enough that they're not going to fail a FO candidate for his partner not knowing his stuff. More importantly, they're not going to allow someone to go to the checkride without knowing his stuff. Lastly, it's a full PIC type which means you also have to taxi the aircraft, which must be done from the left seat.
There's a total of 5 flows specific to the CA. One is the Acceptance, which is basically touch everything and perform all the FFD tests. Pretty much a straight up systems test anyway. 2 others are complete non-events, one where you don't have to touch anything at all in the 7/9 (though you do in the 200, but initial training is done in the 7/9), and the other is strictly a "read and do."
Of the other two, one is 4 items, the other 8. I think they can handle it. Oh wait, they have been.....

Actually, this is exactly what happened to a guy I used to work with. He was failed and not even permitted to take the ride from the right seat. I just had to check to make sure everyone here was aware this is happening.

Also, I know that a pilot like you with all your amazing aeronautical experience knows that you are only getting one side of the story when you talk to someone who fails a check ride.

I guarantee he wasn't failed on flows alone. That may have been the icing on the cake but there are other things that can be evaluated that are not seat specific that guys fail on while sitting in the left seat.

Is any difference in training if you coming in with a CL65 Type?
For example, the schedule mentions 1-2 days in CLT after DAY for a FAA Type oral implying it's with a Fed.
Since I have a type would I take a PC oral with a company instructor instead?
