I'm not a DAY or CVG person, but when you bid you can put in preferences for trips that start after a certain time, and end before a certain time. I usually put in two exceptions to that or there wouldn't be many lines left. Then I know if I get one of these lines I have two times where I might have to get a hotel and use the commuter hotel reimbursement. You can do this when you get to the point when you can hold a Round 2 line, which is good because there is no SAP for Round 2.

Most trips have early starts and late finishes. Commuting becomes difficult on both ends. Expect a 6 to 8 am show on day one and a quarter to midnight finish on day four.

I think I have seen 2-3 trips that bad in the last 3 years, and those were usually because of serious delays on the last day. It certainly isn't "most". A few, maybe.

It's a regular occurrence in Dayton. Can't speak for TYS, as this seems to be an out station crew base thing. It's not uncommon at all at DAY to have a 200 trip that starts at 0445 on day 1 and had you getting home at 2100-2130 on day 4.

Worked for me. Can't say if those kinds of trips exist any more.

When I was a TYS FO for a year (left TYS about 18 months ago) I had some good fortune in finding 7/9 trips that had a 1900 report on Day 1, and back really late on Day 4, with Day 4 usually being Outstation-CLT-CAE-DCA-TYS or something like that.
