Has anyone heard anything about increased new hire bonuses for those with prior 121 time? Envoy (and I would assume Piedmont and PSA will surely follow) is apparently close to rolling out a new bonus structure whereby those who have the 1,000 hours of 121 time plus some other requirements will be given an extra $20,000 on top of the $20,000+ they're already getting.

Seems like if they just raised CA pay it would solve the problem.

I haven't heard that, but I don't think that's going to work for very long. They might get a few that trickle in, but in a few months I think we'll be right back in the same situation. It doesn't sound like express jet is going to have as many people jump ship as what some thought a few weeks ago, and pretty much every other airline has a relatively quick upgrade. 20k is nice but I don't think that's enough to entice pilots to come sit reserve for 3-5 years as a captain. 20k extra per year might do it, but not a one time bonus. When FOs aren't struggling and starving anymore, 20k isn't enough to give up seniority in my opinion. I'm on the edge of holding a line as a captain in CVG, so it won't affect me much...But if the company told me they'd give me a one time 20k bonus to stop bypassing and sit reserve as a captain for the next 4 years I'd tell them no thanks.

So now you'll have new hire FO''s making more than a 5th year captain base salary? How will that encourage anyone to upgrade? I'm assuming that they will essentially expect theses folks with 1000 hours 121 to upgrade as soon as they are out of IOE. I would imagine if they don't upgrade they will go right back to year 2 FO pay.

Are your spreading another "opinion" based on "rumors"? Or have you resorted to just making up your own rumors? Either way, you're getting pretty ridiculous.

Have you heard that PSA is gonna start giving us mainline airbus pay for flying the CRJs? Also, an insider source, (a leprechaun who lives in one of the E concourse urinals) has told me that once every month Dion will be washing the cars of every PSA pilot.

See, I can do this shirt too.

Sure buddy. If you look at my post history going back several years you can see that a lot of what I have said would happen has happened. I used to know someone who worked in management at one of the WO from back when we were in flight school who was very insightful about some stuff.

As far as CVG potentially closing I stated it was a rumor to begin with. I've heard that if we can't continue to grow that PHL would likely open at the expense of CVG (and perhaps DAY). There is also the revolving door of Mx personnel there which is causing some interesting problems for the company at the moment. Having a bunch of freight operators on the field doesn't help retention much for PSA.

As for the bonus, I am more or less asking if anyone else has heard anything to that effect. I'm not trying to spread a baseless rumor. I hope that an additional bonus is not the route that management decides to go in regards to their need for CAs at the WOs. I have been told by a friend at Envoy (and if you go read in their thread) that this is happening though.

I'm just out here surfing the chaos like everyone else.

If the article is correct then this is hardly the aircrew's fault at all.

Just wanted advice: at the interview was told that I would be awarded my base of choice after IOE- no surprise but that did not happen so now I am on reserve in Dayton whilst living in Knoxville. Have been through 10 painstaking days of this and another 8 are to come still. Is there any way to request a change of reserve base at this stage? Are there any avenues I can pursue to get reimbursement for the accommodation beyond the $250 as technically false promises were made? Or is this all wishful thinking? Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the airlines, and airline recruiters. While they can say whatever they like, the reality is we're all bound by our seniority, and what our seniority can hold. No one is hired into a specific base.

Period.

Aside from that, you're stuck with the $250/month, and while you can request that they have you sit reserve in another domicile, the chances of that are slim.

Make sure your base preferences are accurate in Flica, and eventually you'll get back to TYS. It really shouldn't be all that long.
