Yea, but it's the same people who were chomping at the bit in 2015 and decided not to leave. Even if they'll fill upgrades with DECs it will be short lived because the turnover will be high and PSA will have to run constant upgrade classes to maintain the revolving door of rsv captains as FO's sprinkle in taking the lines.
I also don't think we're going to get many more pilots from XJT than we're already getting. It sounds like they may have some displacements but they're not going to need to furlough. I think with the addition of the United and American planes and the attrition, they'll still be in good shape when the delta flying ends next year.
Also, Can we even afford to do DEC classes? They're having to run FO classes at full steam to keep up with the attrition. If we hire DECs wouldn't that be taking away FO slots in the new hire classes that the company desperately needs? Even if the company runs DEC classes we might be able to fill them for a month or two and then we'll be right back in the same situation. There's just not that many pilots out there nowadays that want to make the same amount of money on captain reserve as an FO that holds a line. Yes you're getting PIC time, but with the hiring and attrition everywhere now it's not as big a deal as it was 3 years ago. If people wanted PIC time that bad we wouldn't have literally HUNDREDS of FOs bypassing upgrade.

It means that you have to have remembered to print or screenshot your original trip, then remember to check crew pay 5 - 8 days after your trip ended and submit pay claims for all the stuff they screwed up on your pay (the better of scheduled or displaced line)

My bet is that some kind of upgrade bonus will be applied by the company to ecourage fo''s to upgade. They also need to increase flow as I have talked to many a Captain that are 2-3 years from flow that are just staying put unless another major calls first. I don't see many captains going to an lcc or ulcc as it would only be a side step. Unless there is some kind of financial incentives to endure reserve or a dramatic change to our reserve rules I don't see many guys taking the upgrade.

I would not be surprised if the company tries to only give the bonuses to new upgrades. Although, I doubt the union will let that happen since the bonuses won't apply to them. We basically have 5 bonus structures based on when you were hired or what your current position is, which I think is ridiculous.

This is probably the most truth I have read on here in many weeks.

I've heard it from multiple sources so I'm guessing it will be. According to the PHL station manager, I talked to last week Air Wiskey is pulling out at the end of the month.
I don't want it because that means CLT keeps gets smaller and smaller....
However, I've also heard AA doesn't like the fact PDT and us have outstation bases. So if PHL opens it could mean the end of CVG and/or TYS.

I don't want PHL either, getting stretched too thin just creates more reserve and round 2 jobs.
