So, there are three seats on the planned flight and she's fifth (three D1's, and a D2 in front of her). The later flight has three seats with only a D1 and a D2 listed. I figure if I switch her to a D1 she'll jump to fourth in priority on the first flight (and POSSIBLY have a shot) and then will be second on the second option. Does that seem like a safe bet, even if she loses check-in time priority?
Non reving with tight loads is always a gamble. What if family of 3 misses a flight. She'll get on on the first option and the family of 3 will be revenue standbys on the second option. What if revenues from a later flight decide to go standby on earlier flight. What if customer service needs to reroute someone and all of the sudden all the seats are gone... Lots of variables.

Good points... I always forget about families traveling together and all the ways that can change load plans.

Personally, I'd probably wait it out. If D1s are a family they may not want to split up. If someone misses the flight (even if checked in and stuck at security) she'll be ok. I'd work on looking into backups (always have one or two) - maybe connecting flights or make routing on your own (going the opposite direction to get to open flights etc; Zed fare on another carrier...)

Good call on the waiting it out... She dropped down to seventh in priority for the three seats, but somehow got the last seat. Glad I didn't change anything.

Thanks for the advice, guys!

One thing to remember is that you can not change to a D1 with inside an hour. Also, you can not have multiple PNRs from the same city and destination.

Glad she made it.

Any of you folks been to a job fair? I'm headed to OBAP in a couple days and have no idea what to expect. I guess I'll print off some resumes and will wear a suit? Any tips, tricks, or advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just be yourself, bring resumes, and remember that you will likely make better contacts at dinner or social events than you will at the "official" events.

Dress to impress, because you never know who/when you will meet someone.

Good luck. I will see you there. I will have my resumes with me as well.

Is the company hat required on the line?

Looks like the latest seniority list only shows a growth of 7 total pilots from last month.
