Default Freak medical episode

I had a freak medical condition occur. I have been given a clean bill of health by my doc and he assures me it is a one time freak thing that should never happen again. I am young, in great shape yet the research I am doing is indicating that the FAA will not give a special issuance on my medical for this condition, ever. Not willing to call it quits on my career. Anyone have any advice on who to go to for help in a medical situation like this? Anyone, every had to fight for a special issuance medical, I would appreciate any advice you could give.

First of all – do not panic! You haven’t really specified what your condition is, and you don’t have to because it might be a private matter. I’m sure you’re feeling like the end of the world is coming but the truth is most of the time things somehow always work out.

If I were you, I’d call Leftseat.com (Pilot Medical Solutions) 800-699-4457
What you just described is what they deal with on daily basis and they’re good at it. I’ve used them myself (BP problems) and am very satisfied (even though it cost me ~$600). (Ps. I'm NOT getting paid for saying this to you!)

Their website is www.leftseat.com

And here are some links you should check out:

Read the paragraph 6 in this link. Not sure if your condition is listed here but those are just examples of conditions they’ve dealt with before.

Also read this:

Good luck to you and hang in there!!!

Stay away from anyone who is out for your $$$ with a promise of a quick fix !

The AMCD is the only place who can resolve this for you and the ultimate authority is the NTSB.

Send me a pm and I will try to help.

AMCD? Is it same as AME?

If so, I strongly disagree, the AME might be your friend but he/she may also turn out to be your biggest foe. I'd rather get an opinion from someone anonimously, for example leftseat.com or anyone similar BEFORE I contact someone who's working with the FAA such as an AME. That’s just my opinion, either way good luck to you!

I agree and getting help from an outside source. Just a miswording on my part in the forms could end my career. An AME is not going to guide me in the best terminology to use on the forms.

Has anyone had any experience with Virtual Flight Surgeons?
