Multiple Sclerosis and 1st class medical
I am in the middle of test to determine if I have M.S. . I will find out on Monday the diagnosis. Does any one have any insight on the possibility of getting my 1st class medical back?

3fityseven,
Found this by googling "multiple sclerosis aviation medical". Many results including this one. The following link describes the process a pilot took for her 3rd class medical, it's an AOPA article online. Also contact info for AOPA's medical consultants at the bottom. Good Luck and hope you are doing okay.

Good Luck with your tests.
MS is a widely variable disease, and affects people differently and unpredictably. Your FAA medical situation would depend on your actual condition.
I'm pretty sure you have a shot at a third class, but not too sure about a first. If you do get a first I'm sure it would be a special issuance due to the possibility of things changing over time.
If you already have a flying job, it would be worth fighting to keep it...but if you are thinking about starting a career, it would probably not make sense to invest the time and money since the risk of losing your medical in the long term would be high.

I got the diagnosis today. I work for a great company that is already in the process of getting a special issuance 1st class medical. My symptoms and form of M.S. are very mild. I know I should be looking for options outside of flying for the long term though. Thanks for the replies.

Good luck to you. My mother had MS. Make sure when you are not working to take it easy. It is important that you understand that you can lead a normal life, but you do have to rest whenever you can and take care of yourself.
