Default 1st Class Med...Still waiting

Believe it or not guys, I'm still waiting to hear from FAA about my med cert. I have in this process for 10 months. No denial letter or anything like that. I'm just about at my wits end.

On the other hand, how has everyone been? All is well with me; just took a little hiatus. Home computer in shop; virus. I pick it up Monday.

Well, take care. Rickair7777, Slice & freezingflyingboy, I'll holla at you guys next week.

Be cool.

Why weren't you issued one at the end of your AME visit? They just took your money and told you nothing...very hard to believe.

I've completed all phases of the exam; medical, psychological, psychiatric. Recommended by all doctors to receive 1st Class Med Cert. Just waiting to hear from either Oklahoma City or DC. Either one; doesn't make a damn bit of difference to me; as long as I get it and am able to use it.

Still lost as to why the doctor's office sent you home without anything like they should have. Do you have a criminal past that might make the FAA think otherwise or possibly some medical conditions.

I have no idea what his situation is, but I would imagine that whatever his medical situation is, it has to be approved by the FAA even thought the doctor performed the physical and issued his OPINION.

His AME still should have told him why the 1st Class Med Cert. couldn't be issued on the spot.

Yeah; based on a bad check conviction and having 3 charges in another Florida county dropped; it raised some eyebrows. Totally understandable.

The FAA requested a psycho & psychiatric eval. Both doctors concluded that there is no reason why I should not be awarded my 1st Class Medical. Why Chesanow is dragging his feet?....your guess is as good as mine.

atpwannabe,
I certainly know how you feel well...for the most part anyways. I was just denied my 1st class medical after resubmitting all my paper work. In my situation I had my medical revoked after a head injury (14months ago). I resubmitted all the paper work (CT scan, neurology exam) the FAA wanted and then some. The extra paper work is what bit me in the but. What I am referring to is a neuropsychological exam that I went through for the Navy. It was referrenced on my neurology exam paperwork so my AME advised that we send it in even though I did not want to. The result was a recent letter in the mail stating the FAA stands by its decision not to grant me a medical at this time based off the neuropsychological exam results. FYI that exam was 4hrs worth of small test dealing with short term memory. The FAA stated that i can resubmit another exam in Mar '09 to try to obtain the medical. All of this crap just for hitting my head!!
Well think positive and everything will work out!!

Talked with Dr. Chesanow's assistant today. I was told that I should hear from him no later than one week from today. I'm glad that the process is finally coming to an end...it's been 13 months...but boy am I nervous.

I have the backing of the local AME, the psychologist and both psychiatric evaluators. Yes, I had to get two psychiatric evals; however all agree that there is NO reason for me not to be issued the 1st Class Medical Cert.

CenterSeatFE, thanks for support.
