Also, those f/o's that fly the -900 definitely believe that they are a "step above" those on the Saab, this is one reason there is a lack of respect for these f/o's within the company and most will get a rude awakening when they try to upgrade into the Saab.
P.S. I'm not sure if this is true but a captain told me that while in Minneapolis for training atleast one crj f/o got fired because there was an argument between the -900 guys and the -200 guys on the shuttle bus to training. Which is extremely sad if true. Anyone else hear of this happening?

I have specifically heard the story you referenced...but, it sounded like story that some jealous SAAB FO created if nothing to rant about.
My classmates and I have been flipping switches for awhile now and I don't think it resembles anything like you described. It flies on autopilot for a reason because it flies it better than any jet jockey ever could. Believe me, the captains coming over from the SAAB are discovering their own challenges with the transition. Easier to fly? Well, I don't fly the SAAB and you don't fly the CRJ...so I guess we'll just have to see. I can tell you (though) that some of the captains find some of the systems on the CRJ more complicated even though the systems were designed to relieve the pilots of the extra workload they were so used to doing on the SAAB. Computers can be frustrating for some people.
SAAB and CRJ FO's make the same pay...therefore nothing to brag about and no reason to feel "above everyone else". It's true, you'll probably have a bigger paycheck than me if you fly more than me. But that's kind of unfair...since we only have 3 possible planes (200s) to fly (as of today). After May 2008, maybe that will change.
"Younger and funnier Captains" are on the SAAB? Man, everyone I've met at Mesaba has been great to work with. If any of the Captains have disrespect for me as a CRJ200 FO...I haven't met any of them. Hey, somebody has to be an FO in those things. I will admit that I felt some of the SAAB FOs maybe didn't feel like conversing with us during INDOC, but believe me...we're all going through the same challenges (albeit on different aircraft).

Try explaining the relationship of Mesaba with NWA for everyone who has never heard of it. Also be ready to correct everyone who will undoubtedly confuse Mesaba with Mesa! The Saab training program definitely moves faster than the CRJ. I know plenty of guys and gals on the line already loving it.
....and come on guys.........we alll have the same goals, no need to argue. If pilot A likes the CRJ then that fine, and if B likes the SAAB, then thats fine. We all are trying to get to the majors (NetJets, Fed Ex, UPS..whatever) one day.

Thats good to know......I'm definitely looking forward to it if it all works out. I would'nt be mad at all if I got the CRJ really, but the SAAB is what I really want. Here's a question, how many different cities does the SAAB serve out of MEM? I read somewhere (I believe on this forum) that they only serve 10 cities from there. Would a SAAB pilot based in MEM ever do any flying out of MSP or DTW as well?

DTW has by far the most diverse flying on the SF3 with bridges to MSP via CWA and MQT and to MEM via TRI. So, all-in-all, DTW is a see it all kind of base.

The SF3 serves 13 cities directly from MEM. Basically, you will see all those in one month on the line. Regardless, each day of flying is different, but you will be quite familiar with your airports. MEM does have some SF3 trips that bridge through to DTW. MEM-TRI-DTW and beyond. Basically, on a 3-day, you might fly your middle in DTW. A MEM line holder will rarely, if ever, see MSP. MEM reserve or build-up might see MSP once a month or so.

Mesaba = Upgrade almost as soon as you have the time (right now it's literally like 2 or 3 months), future looks very bright, lots of growth, lot's of movement, new airplanes coming online, new routes starting every month, flow through w/ NWA should be kicking off 01/08 with 3/mo until 09/08 jumps to 9/mo.
Peidmont = Upgrade non-existant or years and years, no new airplanes or growth expected, future unknown........

If you are interested in some of Piedmont's bases, it might be a consideration. The Dash is a great airplane to fly too.
