Default Piedmont 2023 Hiring Status

So, I am a prior 121 regional FO, positioning myself back in the game. This post is part info sharing and part info soliciting.

Piedmont advertises expedited job offers to DEC's and High Time FO's. As of this posting, for candidates who apply with a clean record, and are successful in the HR+Tech interview, they receive a job offer almost same day. But for candidates who have anything on their record, their app has to be routed to the Chief Pilot's office for approval.

I am one of the latter. I was advised that I should hear back within a week, and if I do not, I should contact them. Of course, one week has now turned into over a month. In my follow ups, I keep being advised that the Chief Pilot's office is backed up.

I am interested/curious to learn if there are others in a similar situation (or were) with Piedmont. Just the approvals (or non) surely don't take over a month? I feel like at this point, I might be getting the run-around and it might probably be wise/time to move on (i.e. apply with other regionals)?. I would just hate to mass apply and use up all my cards.

I would have liked to join Piedmont, with a later class date, and even without the bonuses (in case they are hesitating handing them out (some delay tactic)). Even a TBNT would be nice too so I know where I stand. So bummed about this.

If there is someone within Piedmont who could confirm whether this is a genuine delay or an artificially created one, then it would be greatly appreciated.

If you end up at Piedmont, this is pretty normal. Nothing happens quick.

Having crap quality of life and fastest flow doesn’t mean anything anymore. If you actually want to AA, Piedmont is in a 3 way tie for the last regional you want to go. Go to Republic if you want a Philly base. You’ll have better QOL and be at AA YEARS faster.

Thank you! Your words stung at first, but I took your advice, and I did find someone else! ...I applied at Endeavor, and long story short, have my class date too! So just wanted to express my thanks to you with these news in hand.

Deep inside, I was dreading studying for yet another interview and that's what was holding me back.

I regret wasting almost TWO months waiting on these guys. And they STILL haven't called me. 🤣😒

Piedmont management has problems counting without using their fingers and toes… they kicked 20 sim instructors back to the line “to staff airplanes“ aka in order to hire non seniority list instructors who are friends of the training director to replace them. Well, turns out they lost production capacity and have training backlogs so now they have 297 captains and 440 FOs and a bunch of the sim instructors who the kicked back to the line with interviews at Delta and United coming up.

consider yourself lucky. Go someplace else with better work rules. Crap planes, routes, time off, schedulers, contract has more holes than Swiss cheese, 11 days off, 14 leg four day trips that still don’t go above 75 hours.

Recruiter told me today that Piedmont is currently hiring DECs and high time FOs. The 1500 hour, no part 121 time candidates are not being considered at this point. No estimate when that applicant pool would resume.

There’s a reason for that. The **** schedules and poor QOL at PDT is driving employees on property away, to the tune of 20-25 a month off the bottom of the list and 6 flows off the top. Management has openly stated they don’t intend to fix any quality of life issues more than they have already and there’s no long term plan for the airline to exist after the last 145 is gone.

PSA is hiring at ATP mins without 121 time. You’ll fly better equipment and have better QOL there anyways while you apply to DAL, UAL and SWA.
