Heard they have 300 items you have to be signed off on in the sim and it is taking months to get through. He is a December hire and they are only halfway through sims..He says it has, been a nightmare, scheduling conflicts, wasting time in sims with totally useless stuff, just spending hours running checklists instead of flying the plane. If a dome light goes out,you have to see it during their sim and spend 45 min running a checklist for it.
I dont see how they are staffing 3new jets a month with this type of old fashioned thinking and training philosophy.

The training department is evolving.. they are making changes.. give it some time, enjoy the vacation. There are some smart people working pout the kinks.

With the new sim coming on line in clt this week and a second sim this year things are going too go much faster.

PDT is changing every day. It's an evolution.

Yep, and get ready for some 175's. Those 145's ain't gonna be around long for you guys. Hopefully all the flying falls under the American umbrella. Then eventually add the WO's to the American Seniority List.

Yep he told me 26.

Also said they asked if anyone wanted to be a Dash captain. I guess that is because we couldn't fill the last Dash bid.

100% false. He was hired during the vacations and instructor CQ events. So thise classes did get up to 8 weeks off. We have people from march half way through sims now. And maybe you do not know that the FAA has the sign off of approved training items. So that finally got changed.. at the speed of the FAA. Also hiring soe captains weekly. Footprint has shrank considerably. Checklists. Yes those damn things. Such a huge time consuming event. Who needs barriers. Great management team is working around the clock to get it even more efficient. New sim in clt will be running 4-5 sims daily soon. And as soon as whiskey is out there will be another. Sorry your friend got snagged up, happens every year during dec/Jan. Thanks for your quality post about Pdt.

Ya, no. I've heard many in management say there are absolutely no planes on to take on another fleet type. They will, however, take as many 145s as we can staff. Latest number I heard was a target of 115.
