Personally I could care less, I still recommend people to goto PDT or Envoy. Just thought I’d mention how the training continuum is actually progressing so people know what to expect.
The obvious downside to delays in training are the simple fact that those who need to build the 1000 hours part 121 to upgrade are in a position where at PDT it takes significantly longer to gain those hours, thus delaying their upgrade by default.
The obvious upside is paid leave with travel benefits, albeit on training wages.
Personally I would start going nuts after a month or so off if I needed the 1000 hours per 121 and watching everyone else speed up the pole around me.

I guess that new hires waiting 4-6 months from Indoc just to start systems at the moment would prove otherwise.

Part of me wishes I stayed an fo.. my QOL was awesome!
I would take as much time off as possible.. if I was single and young.. use the flight benefits.. get over to Thailand or Vietnam or Goa India.. live like a king on the beach for 5 dollars a day.. have the experience of your life while getting paid... goa is slightly more expensive.. but Vietnam and Thailand.. 5 bucks a day.. includes beverage money. Just check email and stay in contact with training.

without the triple premium the fos are making almost as much as captains especially since we have no captain retention bonus now.. i see no advantage to upgrading quickly unless you want to only have 4 days off a month and willing to be abused next summer.

Triple premiums wont last forever. Others want to upgrade because they have options outside of AA that requires jet pic. Delays in training continuum has a exponential delay in ones ability to bid for upgrade, be awarded upgrade, actually goto training and then build pic jet time.

Nope....MSN, OMA, SAT, and even DSM will all be operated by RAH. The article specifically said it would be Envoy operation PHL-DSM but that is a mistake. Envoy will not open a PHL base. My source that was sitting in on the AA network planning meeting not very long ago said that the plan for 2018 is for PDT to expand it's PHL operation. RAH will be shifting some of their aircraft out of MIA and LGA and grow their PHL operation. Envoy will in turn grow it's operation in MIA and LGA. PDT and RAH will be the players operating for American in PHL.

New hire here. Starting class in November. I'm kind of unique, current 135 jet guy with enough total time and pic time I was told I can bid upgrade as soon as I finish new hire FO training.
I have a few questions and was wondering if I could PM some people that are willing to answer.

Piedmont isn't the only regional with some training delays. I've heard Envoy has had some delays and I'm sure some of the others with big classes are experiencing some delays as well. But really, you can upgrade as soon as you hit 1000 121 here. Is an extra month or two wait to get through training the worst thing to happen to someone? Fast forward 5 years when you're at a legacy I am sure you'll remember the traveling you did while you waited for sims and not how you had to wait two more months to upgrade. Just take it easy and enjoy the ride.
By the way I’m NOT saying not to goto PDT at all, in fact I’ve pointed quite a few guys your direction based on where they live.
But the training delays at PDT (and it’s not just a couple of months) do come into play for guys that don’t want to goto a legacy but have other options already lined up.
