Cool, he should totally come to PDT than. In fact, tell him about his 6 day stretches of Reserve he’ll be on at CLT and also the wonderful RAS (airport reserve) that the company is taking advantage of and abusing and violating the contract with. Oh did you mention zero transparency beyond “Good”, “Okay”, “Bad”, in terms of the staffing of reserves for the day? I’m sure he’ll be super happy with his 2 hour drive to Charlotte for that crap.

Quick look; may have screwed up some #s: 70 names between plug in CLT and bottom of list as of today. 96 names on CLT bid seniority for 58 lines; junior line going to a 6/19 hire. We all have different opinions on what is good/bad (or okay🤦♂️), but for all the other ‘perks’ related to PDT life, I don’t think that’s too hot.

Really? Idk, the 6 day stretch I just had and the month prior felt pretty real to me. Plus all of the 5 day stretches. Pray tell, what does a 4 day feel like again? 4 day trips are a myth to me.

This company most certainly schedules 6 day stretches for RSV at times. Also, don’t forget about the 2 day trips followed by a 3 day trip with ~12 hours in base. Very lovely for commuters and it really makes our vacation language work just like it was intended... 🙄
This place is a heaping pile of doodoo and I can’t fathom why you all are so quick to come to their defense. Talk about Stockholm Syndrome…

The line bidding here is difficult and impossible to plan your scheduling and life. The QOL life can be difficult and management is deaf to pilot complaints.

Considering Piedmont since I live within 2hrs of CLT. I understand the place isn't perfect but CLT is the only regional base I could drive to and I have not heard anything from PSA. Is CLT junior on the FO and/or captain side? I haven't seen anything about junior bases on here in a while. I also see that CLT is one of the potential locations for part of training, any say on where you go or if a local could get it?

There's really only one way to routinely credit above min-guarantee at Piedmont without sacrificing days off.
1) Live in base
2) Bid BUP.
3) Be senior in seat.
The senior BUP line will be awarded the most scheduled trips with the fewest reserve days, whereas the junior BUP line will be awarded the fewest scheduled trips and with the most reserve days. What this means, if you can satisfy those three items above, is you'll always get your golden day request (I never missed a holiday or day that I specifically needed off), the RSV days credit 4 hours on a BUP line which tends to result in a line credit value of low to mid 80s, and you'll usually only have 3-5 reserve days spread through the month. I always called last out (lol, I know), but in the end I tended to average 13-15 days not at work (note that I didn't say 13-15 days OFF) and credit in the 80s, sometimes even scoring in the low 90s pre-Covid...I once credited 97 hours one summer month in 2019 merely working my straight BUP line and having a couple of healthy onboard delays to pad the credit. Ultimately it meant more pay and less time at work than bidding a regular line. After all that, I would only ever bid a regular line on vacation months, for obvious reasons.
WITH THAT SAID...
It's unfortunate that this is what it takes to have any semblance of being able to plan around events in your life and make over guarantee on a regular basis. It also clearly only benefits a select few pilots given that you need to be senior enough to routinely get the higher credit BUP lines. If you're junior, don't bother unless you just enjoy being punished with lots of reserve days.
As a recent Piedmont escapee, I don't mind sharing this little tip for someone to hopefully benefit from, but for all on the outside, let it serve as notice that this is as close as it gets to 'good qol' at Piedmont.

just joking.. i rarely bid bup... everytime i have the schedule built for me ii is brutal and the reserve days are always ras now. Be thankful you paroled before RAS, airport standby.
Our ras is now 8 airport sits up to 8 hours every month.. nothing like being reserve on call at 5am and at 2pm getting a call that you have to sit ras 4pm to 9pm... and than at 855 telling you your overnighting in ART.. argue that it's it's not 117 legal and a they do everything in their power to convince you that "you have to do it" and they can fly you to 11pm.... new tricks... old game..
Other new game... put you on ras.. give you an out and back.. you get back they put you back on ras than give you another flight to overnight you... our jr reserve guys are walking around like zoombies right now.
Covid has caused a group of FOs and CA to be on reverberate forever... as we shrink the stagnation is going to be miserable.. especially if we keep losing FOs at the rate that we are.
