The rumors of a new fleet type may have some validity. I have a reliable source (high-level executive) who told me that ROA was measuring their jet bridges and hangars for an E175. ROA is Piedmont's bread and butter, so it would make sense for Daddy AA to give you guys the planes.
Even still, the E145s have A LOT of life and serve a niche role in the AA network. With the amount of hiring coming this summer and fall, most of you won't have to worry about a regional aircraft again. Good times ahead for all.

Exactly, this ^.
Sure PDT may, and it’s a big “may”, get 175s in the future. Heck, the pilot pay rates for those aircraft in the PDT contract are the cheapest pilots to have fly them.
However, a new fleet type is YEARS, many, many, many, years down the road. AA will want to use the 145s as long as possible. The only thing that may force their hand is if the new “standard weights” for passengers, crew, and bags change enough to make the 145s so weight restricted that it’s cheaper to switch fleets than to keep a massive 145 fleet. It’s all about what the bean counters determine is more cost effective. I’m sure something is cooking behind the scenes, but we won’t know anything official until the day it’s announced.

There is no way pdt will be able to cover existing flying, lose pilots, schedulers, dispatchers, instructors and mx at the current rate and launch a new fleet type. 2015 through 2017 was a painful expensive experience that at the time had a large labor pool to draw from and a blank check from AA to get out done so they can rid Air Whiskey. Times have changed and we're bottom of barrel now not just on par with the bottom a we were 6 years ago when Piedmont announced growth plans. Our mechanics are dropping off faster than pilots and we have a very bad dispatch shortage.
Until AA is ready to fairly pay its labor force at pdt, the airline will be forced to shrink do to much better choices out there. AA can hire all they want and I know the plan is the major of new pilots for AA will come from the WO not OTS, but pdt had fundamental shortcomings when compared to the other 2 WO.
Btw we lose more flying out of phl in August as the flying transissions back to larger aircraft.
This is only my opinion on being here for only 7 days.. take it as you will..
SBY has a problem, wawa, royal farms and Amazon along with others pays more for entry level jobs than any staff short of management makes at HQ. They have a massive labor shortage down there now. Add in an IROPS day and we are completely crippled.

Measurements for Piedmont were done 6 years ago along with a master plan for a dual fleet. Hangars, gates, ground handling etc to support a 175... Old news...

certainly goes against any crazy “super catch-up flow” rumors running around Piedmont.

AAG put out a pie chart that 41% of new hires for 2021 will be flows at the NGPA Up In The Air brief last week of the 300+. That is ~124 flows from all three for 2021. My guess is 60 Envoy, 40 PSA, 24 Piedmont Sep-Dec 2021.
