USAir announces merger with America West. 2005. Both ALPA. You have no idea how sideways a merger between two ALPA carriers can get. I'm not going to pick a side or assign blame. But the result was the decertification of ALPA on the property, and anything but a date of hire merger.
And the pilots could not fly each other's jets or integrate crews until the final merger with American, and over years into that. I believe it was around 2017. So it was from 2005 to 2017 until the two pilot groups flew each other's metal and shared crews.

Did it occur to you that current policy may have been dictated by past events? Call your ALPA National FFD Committee Rep, call ALPA Representation, etc etc... You pay dues. You have resources at your disposal. Utilize them.

Did it occur to you that you’re not all knowing, and the person your talking to clearly has been through a merger or two?
Yea Christopher, I’m sure everything would go over so smoothly!

Moot point though

So seriously though, what’s with all these 175s being measured for the E gates in CLT? Assuming Envoy will have a greater footprint in CLT in the future, especially with PDT moving more into ORD.

Lets say Piedmont begins a program to start a reduction of 145 jets. Your fantasy merger is announced. Is it really even a merger? It's not that both are even owned by two completely different corporations and shareholders. Your company and Piedmont are Wholly Owned by AA, as you obviously know. So how is this even a merger that even begins to compare to others? It's simply two divisions of a big airline being jammed together. It could be very easily be termed a simple corporate realignment of regional flying, not a merger in any way shape or form.
AA could easily argue that before a judge and your crack ALPA team. And what happens when the judge sides with AA? And what if AA decides a one for one slot job happens, or 5 Piedmont to 1 PSA list or vice versa? Here comes the fight you never foresaw. How does ALPA have any control over an internal business reorganization? Other than work rules.

Reshuffling of bases. PSA takes over PHL, Envoy moves into CLT, PDT picks up the scraps in CLT and ORD becomes a new base for the ‘Mont

I don't get why people keep making such a big deal about this. E175s in terminal E equals more space for mainline aircraft in one of AAG's most profitable hubs. It's been in the works for years. Pretty easy to figure out from a business perspective.

Also, future proofing. 50 seaters won't be here forever. Can't let all of that gate space go to waste.

Is there any “Me too” clause to any of the 3 flows? Could AA just up the flow dramatically at PDT as the planes get parked, and leave PSA and Envoy the way they are?

I wasn’t implying that it would be smoothe. Mergers never are. I was just pointing out that there are established policies and procedures for mergers between ALPA carriers and there would be none of the nonsense mentioned above. But hey, back to your wild speculation. Certainly don’t let little ole me stop you.
