new vacancy bid for June, upgrades are still deferred till further notice according to the email. However, the same exact day they are offering double premium for CAs to pick up RSV days because PDT is short on CA coverage, lol seriously this is how I know PDT is boxing themselves in yet again on being extremely short staffed when travel demand is continuing to increase.

Big picture, we’re not out of the woods yet with covid, Americans financial situation still isn’t great, maybe by keeping us small and cheap looks better, plus history proves pilots will pick up open time when premiums start being offered. Just my two cents.
edit: until the lines all drop to 11 days off we are not short.

All good points.
My only worry is history has shown PDT has never been the company to be “pro-active” on anything related to its pilots.
Case in point, they are unwilling to work with their pilots’ schedules right now to get vaccinated due to low coverage.

I think you just answered your own question.
Piedmont always Reacts! I expect in a couple months we will be back to 4 days on 2 days off with extensions and Jr mans going out to everybody. Morale will drop again. This thread will be filled with despair. Status quo will be restored.
You should find some peace in this.

I’m in the CJO pool and got an email yesterday (first in a long time) saying they were racking and stacking CJOs and to update the application in airlineapps with the latest info, but didn’t give any update on 5Ws for new hiring. Basically they’re preheating the oven, but don’t know when or how much to cook.

It’s fun to write off your management as incompetent. Think about it though, they’ve got you guys foaming at the mouth over potential premium flying this summer... during a conversation about why your company is perpetually short staffed. It’s way cheaper to pay you guys to work overtime than it is to bring a new pilots onboard. You’re answering your own questions in the same breath as you ask them

Now I’m not calling them geniuses, I worked there but under different management. I know how poorly they can run some things.
But toeing the line between being understaffed and still never having to cancel a flight due to staffing is something they’re pretty good at if you ask me. Just gets lost in all the other chit they’re awful at lol

Those were different times where the airline was flush with cash.. i don't think AA is going to be so forgiving now as things will be lean for a while once uncle sam cuts the feeding tube.
