Not sure how people were gaming the system. I’ve been told countless times, if you are a reserve pilot, you are not allowed to pick up open time. Unless it’s on a scheduled off day. Either way, there’s a simple rule to follow. DBAD. We are all in this together.

Not a good look when we had 123 pilots facing a furlough. And a small few ruined a good thing for the whole pilot group.

Planning & Scheduling are responsible for assigning flying efficiently, they didn't. I don't fault the guys who want to fly for getting after it. No one is furloughed, and you still got over 20 days off this month, it'll be okay.

Additionally they are contractually obligated to offer the pilot group open time.
Personally I wouldn’t do it for straight pay. But if a spouse is out of work and it’s being offered, If you can do it take it.
if this was double or triple prem, I’d be a different story.

And now we can't pick anything up because some went overboard on gaming the system. But I agree, for having such a small number of lines we have a surprisingly large amount of open time. Planning needs to do a better job of either building more hard lines or build up lines.

The issue was when they went over payroll/block hours paid it was higher than expected...
Which lead to an investigation into why we had reserve pilots breaking min.
if you do the math for october, block hours of flying vs avaliable pilots, it works out to 10 hours of flying per pilot.
