To my understanding that was not a formal announcement of furlough. In the contract it says that furloughs notifications will be sent by mail to your current address on file with the company/ALPA. Today's email was just "this is what we are expecting" type of thing.

Exactly.

However, keep in mind those numbers could go down.....or worse, up.

Honestly it seemed like the union was blindsided a bit. I do not think that they had advance notice of that email coming out moments after they started the web conference. Hopefully they have more info for us come Monday on the next web conference.

well that has yet to be seen but the unemployment office has to agree to your claim first, if they dont what the company says really does not matter. Better check this out before biting on the bullet.

That is true the state decides your claim base on how you left and yes you can collect for quiting. read the questions.
