when i first started at pdt.. we had guys 10 years just upgrading... i didn't understand how they could be at a place flying a dash so long.. stuck... how much I have learned in this career? The answer really is.. how little I know.
This career is a marathon not a sprint.. the days of 1500 hour cfi's with wet multis may be a thing of the past.. reduced time captains may be a thing of the past. If you're at Piedmont already.. your in an OK spot for now. None of us know the next year or decade. Enjoy what you got , plan to work today but the future of aviation is cloudy at best. Save some pennies.. develop another skill.. online college. Welding, electrician, cdl.. mba... etc. Although the flow was great for a while.. don't count on it right now but it is better than nothing and we are in a better place than many of our brothers and sisters elsewhere.

When i flew with one of our now retired Crusty Captains.. he would say, "this place... had given me a home, put my kids through college, and I'm set up for a modest retirement. I never got to fly anything special or go anywhere exotic, but I always had a paycheck. And my paycheck always came on payday."

everyone has individual choices to make.

But if I was still waiting in line with (or for) a CJO, then I wouldn't rest my laurels on that one company.

I don’t think he’s volunteering to be a lifer. I took it as more of a reconciliation to the idea that you can still find success in a less than desirable situation. Life throws some curveballs, it’s up to us to get on base.

I'm not going to settle, of course! But if I can't get there, then I could make it work where I'm at. I'm not 25, I just play it on APC.
