Piedmont Airlines News & Rumors
Not even close!
They best timing was a group for 6 month period (early 2015 hires) that flowed in 4.5 years. There were a few that were going to make 5 years before COVID. And Dec of 19, a 5.5 year was a potential, it very optimistic flow., but not very likely.
As of Mar 20, 6 years is the absolute min, increasing to 8 would maybe be the avg IF things return Pre-COVID. But right now the flow is nonexistent/on hold. Every month you are here accounts for no reduction in flow, it potentially 1-3 months faster than the people below you.
But with a normal recovery, I’m guessing (because no one knows) Piedmont might have the fastest flow....but it will be closer to 9 years. The one thing that brought the flow down from 9 years to possibly 5.5 was massive outside attrition, because everyone was hiring. Not so much anymore. I don’t see the same outside attrition happening for at least a year if not more.

This career is a marathon not a sprint.. the days of 1500 hour cfi's with wet multis may be a thing of the past.. reduced time captains may be a thing of the past. If you're at Piedmont already.. your in an OK spot for now. None of us know the next year or decade. Enjoy what you got , plan to work today but the future of aviation is cloudy at best. Save some pennies.. develop another skill.. online college. Welding, electrician, cdl.. mba... etc. Although the flow was great for a while.. don't count on it right now but it is better than nothing and we are in a better place than many of our brothers and sisters elsewhere.

when i first started at pdt.. we had guys 10 years just upgrading... i didn't understand how they could be at a place flying a dash so long.. stuck... how much I have learned in this career? The answer really is.. how little I know.

For August, there will probably be 30ish CA/FO’s on reserve so I wouldn’t necessarily call that “over staffed”.
The only possible way for a furlough, in my opinion, is if AA cuts flights in the future.
