well its actually cheaper on their end to do that. instead of having us fly 4/5 leg days everyday and max out flight time per day, they send a new crew in. keep everybody under 75hrs as much as possible. giving out x3 premium here and there is cheaper than paying all these crews well over guarantee(75hrs).

Heaven forbid if we are ever able to credit 85 hours with 15 days off every month like pretty much every other airline out there 🙄.

You don’t realize how bad things are at PDT until you see how good things are everywhere else.

Would you also agree that if the trip pairings were more efficient the ratio of crews to trips could be reduced resulting in less total crews required therefore also being, as you noted, “cheaper”?

The only people pushing for PBS at Piedmont really don't even know what PBS is. Same pairings go into the machine, it just has more limitations and screws you worse than line bidding. Say bye bye to bidding conflict and good vacation, say hello to resolved in layer none and working every weekend.

With PBS the pairings would be exactly the same, scheduled more efficiently for the company. Nothing would be gained for the pilots

More bodies on property mean higher costs. More employees to pay healthcare for, and their families. Dental, vision.
Bottom line is Piedmont management is failing at an epic level.
They aren't involved in any great scheme to keep you below 75. They simply have no idea how to schedule. Never have.
