You can be plenty warm in company provided uniform.
My take away from grade school was primarily to follow the directions of my superiors. Guess you missed that.
And no one cares what you wear but your superiors. Line guys aren’t going to say anything to you. Wear whatever the heck you want but why are you trying to justify it here? End of the day the only people you answer to are the ones who write your check. And they’re pretty clear about where they stand

It really is. I just don’t comprehend it - I guess the other side of the argument may feel the same... I don’t agree with 250 < 10k, I don’t agree with 12 hours bottle/throttle. Think I’ll just do what I want. I’m just not at all sure how the argument even seems justifiable.

People who wear trench coats with epaulets are clowns. There's a reason it’s only 23 year olds at regionals who do it... Same goes for sweaters in my opinion.

What regulation says “the proper way”? It has a spot/place for epaulets right? Who would think/know you’re not supposed to wear them?
Most of the time yes. But until the company provides ear/face/ hands(exposed skin) items for those < 0 temps, Crews will need to dress appropriately so people can do a safe/thorough walk around, not a “it’s freezing out here, let’s rush around the plane” walk around.

If a fed sees you go >250 below 10k intentionally, you are getting action (rightly so). If a fed sees you with a trench coat and epaulets on....the world keeps spinning.
If we want to go stupid extreme apples to feet. There were people in Nam who shot innocent women and children at the “order so of “higher ups”. And a few heroes who didn’t follow, because common senses or morals.... By that logic, wearing trench coat and epaulets makes one a hero as well. Which is stupid, as stupid as your 250 reference.
This isn’t safety related, the feds don’t care, this isn’t even “looking professional” related, as I can guarantee 99.9% of people think it is just as professional, and understand exposed skin in freezing temps could be a safety issue.
This isn’t a problem in the summer.
It’s a power tripping high horse folks problem. What still is a problem in the summer that many of the general population would think is unprofessional is not pressed uniform, glasses on head or hanging from various places on uniform, loose ties, and various other “sloppy” things that we don’t get emails over and don’t potentially affect one’s health.
