Anyone see the email from the union? While I’m glad we appear to be moving in the right direction, I see nothing that fixes these horrendous schedules and crappy QOL...

Big news from the union today... im looking forward to see the final language but many of those items we have been fighting to get resolved over the last 5 years are actually going our way. Although it won't make much difference to me these are great improvements for the group..
2 hour call out.. wow...
Captain pay immediately....
And the hotels... glorious hotels!
Thank you union guys!

The longer callout is definitely a step in the right direction. Scheduling will no doubt lose their minds since they usually wait till the last minute to call someone, never planning for tomorrow but always putting out the fires of the current day.
I'm guessing the CA pay immediately is the mutual response to "fixing" the DEC issue of pay for those people that were awarded upgrade but had to wait forever to actually upgrade because of the training backlog.
Hotels are a good thing for CLT folks. I still cannot believe the company tried to nickle and dime that low to screw CLT based folks in training by not getting them hotels because they were "in base", that's some BS.
Overall I keep saying it, 2020 is going to be an interesting year for PDT. They have to change to industry standards, or they will lose and bleed pilots to death. They clearly are having issues attracting new blood, so they have to insure they do not lose the blood they already have on property.
Good job union, keep it up.

Sarcasm I hope?
“Wow”? We get industry standard 2h call out and that illicit’s a ”wow?
CA pay day 1...
It seems more like reneging/rethinking (in a good way) all the cheap petty things they did to us. Which is good they are realizing bad pilot moral is a huge recruiting hindrance.
But it sounds like Stockholm syndrome to cheer because the captives aren’t making you eat your meals cold now.
I don’t see this moving the recruiting needle at all and it is certainly not budging the attrition needle.
The company is going to have to come back with more if they take to change that. But I see it as at least they are moving forward, not backward or stale.
When the other threads say don’t come to PDT, not a single topic in the AIP is mentioned. The reasons not to come are almost just as strong.... But I will admit the company appearing to be willing to work with us (but giving up as little as possible) is a positive thing.

I agree moving in the right direction is good, just like taking the money was good and moving in the right direction. But like you said about scheduling and soft pay being well below peers....

Yup.. after 5 years of living here maybe I do have Stockholm syndrome.. that being said, these are nice quality of life improvements that will go a long way.
Are we up to industry standard? No..... fix the modified minimum day rig, give us a 5 hour min day with an appropriate per diem. 12 days min off too.
But for now... high fives all around. Great work!

Exactly. The union did a hell of a job. The problem is piedmont. They will keep our crap schedules and horrible QOL until hiring stops and the mass exodus happens. Then MAYBE they may budge.

This right here is exactly right. Until anything close to this happens the QOL for PDT pilots will still be awful. The truth is the deck is stacked in management's favor and PDT pilots are suffering and are rightfully unhappy when you compare it to industry standards of other airlines.
