Could we just get PBS or some sort of comparable software? The technology does exist and It would benefit both the company and the crews - it’s a win-win. Why is there no talk of this or mention of movement towards it? Is PDT the only airline that still uses an out of date bidding system with no app or transparency for the crews to see lines and schedules and who is “on deck” for RSV? It’s nearly 2020, this is ridiculous...

The main grip I hear at PDT is horrible schedules and 2 days off ( aka 48 hour overnights) between inefficient and hard commutable trip pairings. How many times recently has scheduling been tweeting about being in “IROP” or “Don’t call us” because they do not have enough staff in the office, which in turn has a trickle down effect over poor crew schedules and management of where crews are or how best to use them.
Yes, PBS will be a challenging implementation, but you would think both sides would be invested in exploring it and fixing the obvious big problem that PDT has.

Well that’s my point though. It would be a big task and would require negotiating on both sides. However I don’t see why there is not a push for it. On one hand management would be able to staff more efficiently with the system and on the other I think crews would appreciate it because there would be more transparency and it should in theory generate better lines / schedules overall.

The 4hr modified min day is really the biggest issue with the Piedmont schedules because it gives company zero incentives to schedule effectively.
4.25hr min day would give min 12 days off which the company shot down during the last TA negotiation session because the estimated it would cost $1mil more per year in staffing costs.
The way things are, 2 days off is even a lucky break these days. Lots of schedules have less than 24hrs off between trips provided they build in 24hrs off in 7 days so the company will string together two trips to make 6 days of work in a row.
PBS requires giving up vacation and other conflict bidding. Complete non starter with senior union members. That’s 50-60 more days a year they would have to work. With 4hr modified min day PBS will make everyone work 19 days a month to get 75hrs. Since there’s no rigs to speak of, The loss of conflict bidding will make more folks available to fly 75hrs @ 11 days off to fill schedule needs, taking away premium flying opportunities and placing anyone left over on reserves thus reducing overall manning needs and costs to the company.

This new interface fix is terrible. It waives contract protections for length of time away from base, and moves the interface back into the month 3 days.
Let’s just call it a bad idea, er.. discontinues initiative, and move on to the next stage in getting the interface fixed.
