Piedmont Airlines News & Rumors

I think AA should just issue all WO Pilots a Seniority Number. That way if they want to withhold you then it won't hurt you in terms of Seniority at Mainline. Plus at that Point why would you leave?
They can then meter the flow (if they need to hold you 6 months or a year) and then once you go over to Mainline you'll probably already know your base and equipment and probably won't even have to sit reserve. Sure this will **** off all the Off the Street Hires but who gives a sh&*.

I wonder why that wouldn't work.

That's not entirely unreasonable if you adopt the idea that the WO pilots have been doing company flying on company equipment for 10 years already.
Effectively, you're talking about eliminating the regional model as far as pilot seniority goes. That OTS hire wouldn't have to spend 10 years on reserve if they want to start in a CRJ/145/175. They would only have to if they want to jump into the middle of the AAG fleet, on a Boeing or Airbus. Like a DEC, you can cut in line over pilots already on property, going straight to a payscale you didn't work up to, but you pay for it in low relative seniority.
It would make WO recruiting a total non-issue, but it's all a pipe dream anyways.

So I guess it's not unreasonable if you're willing to overlook the fact that you are a Piedmont pilot, not an AA pilot (regardless of what you tell your friends)

Just get rid of all 76 seat aircraft. All AA “regional” flying should be 190s. Put ALL of the wholly owned folks on the seniority list and once you can hold something better than the 190, you move on up. Boom, you’re welcome.

Other than the ground service, ticket agents and flight attendants and mechanics and behind the scenes, dispatch scheduling etc, the pilots have to be costing AAL a fortune.

Work for Piedmont, owned by AA. Fly Piedmont routes, which are given to us by AA. On Piedmont metal, which was facilitated by AA and operate on behalf of AA? Unless I am missing something?

Now: "Why doesn't AAG treat us like mainline?"

Know how Republic got their 170s? Does that mean that they are all USAir pilots, and became AA pilots after the merger? But you probably don't know about that history do you?
This is a sad conversation to have to have.

That's effectively my point. The original premise would create a unified seniority list, where the lower portion is still flying AAG customers on AAG airplanes, but under WO operating certificates.

How are you going to keep me (CLT 145) from bidding the 175 in DFW? They would need fences.
