Couldn’t agree with you more. His whole statement about it being a done deal and waiting in mec signature is hearsay. We will hear nothing before June 1st. Do your job, let the union do theirs. Coming on here with what flyinguy said does nothing for us.

This (saving month of money) is common knowledge to management. Do you really think they haven’t thought of (since our union took so long to decide) waiting out 3-5 more days to save a months pay?
Again, we aren’t negotiating with them. This is different. Management is attempting to make PDT more appealing/competitive to prospective pilots, and those bottom 400 so they stay.
They believe the small raises they offered will do this. It won’t.
Maybe my words will help them realize this, and they will offer more or better QOL. I am doubtful of that. But more words/advice can’t hurt. If mass future exodus isn’t known by management, informing them of this only helps. But if they freak out and do research and see how many are leaving soon and decide to give us “second round offers” now....how is that bad? We have the truth/reality on our side, we don’t need to be savy or negotiate squat. Just let the cards play and watch the company come back with more.
So let’s take the money, show them it’s not enough, and get more later.
It’s to the point where I almost don’t even want the raise as pitiful as it is. Rather I want them to see how much it won’t help. It’s that second round of money/QOL I want. But round 2 will never come before round 1 occurs. They plaid their hand, they really think this is enough, and are not going an iota higher. No matter how long we refuse the money or how good we are at negotiating.
The only thing refusing the money does is save them a little money, and buying them time (more likely AA) to come up with a plan B as the ship sinks. That’s a lose lose situation for all but those bitter folks who want to watch PDT management burn. Taking the money is win win for all.
Unfortunately, I think you are right here. The union is to blame for this month. The 1st month was ok. Get a feel for them, make a counter, that was good. But once we saw their hand, we should have taken it. Month 2 (which is very likely), is on them (union). Too late now though (most likely).
Though one thing management can’t seem to grasp is how much morale plays a role in recruiting and more so retention. It could play better for them to pay us for all of April and May at new rates, since they ‘budgeted’ to do that anyway. Perhaps save some face and have slightly better moral coming into round 2. It I highly doubt it. As they can’t seem to think ahead and are horribly myopic to a fault. They can only see the tiny savings now, never the much larger savings ahead.
Let’s not screw up next month.

I'm not saying that's what will happen. I am saying that's why you don't say what would or wouldn't work in the forums.

Pulling it is only going to sink the ship, and put them in the unemployment line. That isn’t going to happen. You aren’t going to see CEO’s in a pilot break room if they aren’t desperate to keep their job....unless they were a good CEO, and visited regular to understand the situation of the pilots and improve the company as a whole....which you can guess how often that occurs...
They didn’t come to us because they didn’t need to. They aren’t coming to us to trick us, it had nothing to do with making things better or worse for our benefit. It has to do with making PDT competitive enough to improve recruiting and retention so they can keep their jobs.
Nothing I will say can negatively change that. They either listen to me and give more, or ignore me and stay the course. The course they believe will fix the situation.
If your kid is stupid and stubborn enough to touch the stove, you can only explain so many ways the pain that will result from that, before you have to let them just touch the stove. Or as one user called it, the Pepsi challenge.

Let’s see what it does to the seniority listings next month... These folks being denied upgrade while DECS are coming through getting big bonuses and CA pay from day one is absolute BS.

It doesn’t look like we’ve hired any DECs since November. Maybe the company realized it was a bad idea...

Another update email saying no update. Wonder what “counter offer” they went for this time. Pretty sure the company said they aren’t offering anything. My guess, they took the money and nothing else. Guess we will see in a couple days/weeks.
