Just curious, I applied 2 days ago via Airline Apps. Prior 121 here with 5900TT and plenty of turbine experience. About how long has it been taking for someone to get some type of communication from PDT after applying?

The quickest way to get a call back (even with your experience) is to get an internal recommendation. I applied and got a call within a few days when a buddy recommended me. As for upgrades, who knows. I think it will depend on how many of the newish folks who are reaching upgrade mins think they are ready for the challenge and bid it. With more and more aircraft coming each month, the potential for quick upgrades will continue for quite some time. More than half of my new hire class were first time 121 pilots who need the 1000 SIC before they can even think about it. Others weren't interested in becoming Captain's quickly for QOL reasons. If other classes are similar or have more new 121 pilots, that will help keep upgrades quick for those with the time.

Were you referred by a Piedmont Employee? If so usually the day after Pilot Recruitment received the referral.

Otherwise, usually within a week or two. There's a LOT of interest right now.

A friend from college said that he interviewed a couple weeks ago and the soonest he could start class was November. That might have something to do with them not calling back quickly.

The training department previously had only 1 classroom with systems trainers and split 20 people into am and pm classes. Now they have 2 classrooms so may amp up to 30-40 people per month if they did the am and pm classes again in both classrooms.

Joey send a PM to anyone here. We are all Pilots at PDT. Someone can talk with you and help you along. We don't bite... As far as upgrades, I think a lot of guys don't have the time to upgrade or like their senority as an FO. Couple that with getting 2 and now hearing 3 jets and month if you have the time you will get an upgrade if you want it. Guys with prior time are getting upgrade right off of FO IOE. We will be in need of Captains for quite sometime.

3 jets a month is now the minimum.

He is one of the chief pilots, but he has kept a very low profile at pdt. I was prior awac so I know his reputation. Never personally had an issue with him.

Looks like all recruiters are in Oshkosh this week. echo that this is good time to be at Piedmont if you can get in. A confirmed seat in class is gold...but ask to be on the wait list in the meantime.
